Here's the cover to "Chrome" that I mentioned earlier, which was illustrated by Kelley Jones, who also did the Micronauts (Marvel).

Always thought Southern Knights was a fun comic. I miss the days of those cheap little independents.

Ted, I can't seem to locate it online.  I have issue 1 (featured in my first post) which probably has his name, but I just need to locate that issue in my collection.

80's independents rocked. Some of them, anyway. I loved the B&W airbrushed titles like ADVENTURERS, NINJA ELITE and especially WARLOCK 5.

I recall reading a few of those: Boris the Bear,
Aristocratic Xtraterrestrial Time-Travelling Thieves, The
Adventurers and Southern Knights at least. A few of the
others look familiar too.

I recall enjoying Boris quite a bit at the time but don't
recall much of my reaction to the others.

I also liked a number of books First, Comico, Pacific,
Mirage and Eclipse put out, if they can be considered
"alternative" at all. They were certainly smaller than
Marvel and DC.

The "black and white explosion" (as I think it was
referred to) following the relative success of TMNT was a
neat time. Hit when I was in my biggest phase of
collecting comics -- when I had both cash flow and
interest. And of course a part of that was speculation
after seeing prices of the first print of TMNT #1. This
was fueled by the tiny comic convention in my hometown
and voracious reading of Amazing Heroes and the dream of
making big money on a speculative market. In retrospect,
this might have been a lead-in to the idiocy of the 90s
and the death of comics, but I wasn't collecting by then.
I was just a reader of comics -- quite the distinction.
