Probably implying something about his sexuality.

That's how I read it, too. Another tired refrain of the "Batman & Robin are secretly gay" joke.

A while back, Target carried some great T-shirts featuring classic comic book art. JB's cover for Captain America #250 ("Captain America for President") was one of the designs, as was a Romita Sr. Spider-Man, Neal Adams Green Lantern and Aparo Aquaman.

I was hoping that wasn't the "joke". That shirt is really stupid.

Flip side of the Robin sexuality coin...

Remember when DC was in hot water over this...?

See, that's about as far as I care to see in a comic book. They're an item, it makes sense, it doesn't beat you over the head with it. But that's the line, right there. And even so, is this an eight yr old's comic?

I'll count how many "fans" I see at the Chicago Comicon in August with the tee...and it will depress me.

"It's probably "Fish Fetish" that bugs me most of all about this.

Do these people understand what that means? "

Tragically, since that Peter David "Time and Tide" (or Aquaman year one)miniseries a decade or so ago, the refutation of the premise of that "joke" would be "Dolphins aren't fish". Apparently he had the idea that a Tarzan raised by apes would naturally be sexually attracted to apes and as he reached puberty he'd try to have sex with the female apes, so he had the brilliant idea to have Aquaman be raised by dolphins and fall in love with one. Of course the Dolphin girl's response was "Eek. What are you? Some kind of pervert?".

So that should be "Dolphin fetish". Ah, that Peter David. Such a fine grasp of heroic character.

"stretched across fat bellies, with the armpits stained several shades darker than the rest of the shirt"

description of Byrne fans

And people say children don't read comics.

Hardly a day goes by on this forum that I'm not grateful that I gave up reading comic books more than a decade ago.
