"I thought the biggest problem was that it went on way too long..."

Agreed.

"Just end it and move on please!  It would have been an interesting way to move on from the married Spider-Man..."

That WOULD have been interesting.

I'm sure that a two or three-volume Clone Saga Omnibus would sell.  Marvel released a $100 Secret Wars II hardcover edition recently, which tells me that there's got to be a market for just about everything.

I've still got a complete run of the Clone Saga comics in my collection.  For all the bad things that came out of it, it did a nice job of shaking things up in the Spider-Man corner of the Marvel Universe.  Web of Spider-Man and Spectacular Spider-Man had just been spinning their wheels for a while, the adjectiveless Spider-Man still hadn't found its post-McFarlane footing, and the major year-in-the-making anniversary storyline in Amazing Spider-Man culminated in the revelation that Peter Parker's mysterious back-from-the-dead parents were...robots.

The Clone Saga was a fun way to revisit an old story, add some ongoing subplots and mysteries and bring in some new characters.  The books suddenly had a vitality to them that they'd been lacking, and it was a lot of fun--up until a few serious missteps happened.

I'm looking forward to the new mini-series, because I'm curious about what Howard and Tom thought could have been better, and what could have been done differently, and 15 years is a long enough time to get a detached perspective on the whole thing.

Whether you liked the saga or not, can we all agree this costume was REALLY cool?!

I'd kill for a Clone Saga omnibus, Andrew (great name, btw). But this story would probably even have to be divided up into 2 (or more) of them. I think there were just over 100 issues that came out during the clone story (everything from the core titles to one shots and limited series).

I liked that costume a lot, JT. Glad it saw new life in Tom's Spider-Girl series. I thought that Ben's SS costume was fun, too, even though a lot of people ripped on it.

Yeah, I liked that one too. It seemed hastily thrown together and suited the character well.

Good interview.  The art looks solid.  I'll buy it.  I'll expect a laurel and hardy handshake next time I see* DeFalco and Mackie, tho...

*Not that they would know me from Adam Warlock.

As a major fan of the 26 month long (no + no -) clone saga I agree that Ben's costume was to put it simply : terrific!

I liked the Scarlet Spider costume a lot more than the Spidey 2.0 costume, which even at the time felt too "nineties" for me.  It helped a lot that artists like Mark Bagley, Sal Buscema, John Romita Jr. and Mike Wieringo were drawing it, though.
