Wow. I never knew that the Editors In Chief were directly under marketing and sales. That's pretty messed up.

Howard-

I'm looking forward to this!  Especially because (believe it or not), I've never read the original (extended/controversial version).  So I imagine I'm in for a real treat reading the story as you and Tom originally intended it!  One of the things I am looking forward to is having the whole story in just six issues instead of spread across multiple spider titles.  I've got the ASM DVD, but it doesn't contain the other Spider-titles that crossover for the entire clone saga.

Thanks for doing it again and making it the way it was supposed to be!  :-)

Does anyone have a link or can they make a list of the original (extended, multiple cross over) clone saga in chronological order.  I'd like to read that one after I read DeFalco/Mackie's revised version.

Thanks!

That was the point at which the weight of all the writing on the wall actually caused the wall to collapse.

I think the idea is to have an easy-to-reprint Clone Saga. Believe it or not, it seems to exist A LOT of demand for that story (having read it, I don't understand why...), but it is SO long (about a couple of years of ALL spider-books!) that it's nigh impossible to reprint.

But the demand is there. When Panini France reprinted most of it in two Omnibus editions (you read right, TWO OMNIBUS EDITIONS!) I saw a lot of people clamoring for it on both US and brazilian comic forums!

I think this is a good alternative. A short, corrected version of the Clone Saga that Marvel can reprint easily. And it will allow the writers to save their reputations. In short, everyone wins.

I was in Jr High when I got heavily into Spider-Man comics, and that
happened to be when the clone saga was going on. So I'll always have fond
memories of that chapter of Spider-Man.

I'm lookin' forward to this!

Howard has ststed that they originally planned to have the clone-SAGA be more of a clone-couple-of-issues, rather than the multi-issue explosion that it became.
IIRC that happened because the Marketing department demanded the story to be expanded to sell more issues.

Two omnibus editions is crazy.

I guess this is "Clone Saga Forever", taking a cue from Claremont's book.

Isn't "forever" exactly how long the first Clone Saga lasted?

[Kinda kidding, wasn't really reading Spider-Man during the Clone Saga, pretty indifferent about it to be honest, but I couldn't resist swinging at an easy one.]
