Despite her having one of Wolverine's claws bonded to
her, I prefer the X-Men Forever version of Kitty to the
"sexually active uncontrollable phasing when she orgasms"
version that was in Joss Wheedon's Astonishing X-Men run.
What is it with writers who feel the need to have teenage
superhero characters have sex?
o_O wha? I think the comics code needs to be reinstated.

Back in the 90's Warren Ellis wanted the 28 year old Pete Wisdom to take the then 16 year old Kitty Pryde's virginity durring his run on EXCALIBUR, but Marvel nixed that idea. IIRC, Ellis even did an interview bragging about how he hopes Kitty is 17 years old because she's going to "get F***ed by Wisdom" at the end of his (I think) Black Air storyline. IIRC, the last page of his first story arc was originally drawn to show Kitty and Wisdom in bed together, but Marvel editors had the artist redraw the last page to show them fully clothed and kissing.

Kitty wasn't even in the X-Men when Claremont left. What's she doing back now, and why does she have a Wolverine claw?

Brian, Kitty and Nightcrawler came back for the memorial service for Magneto and were chosen by Cyclops and Prof X to be part of the strike team to hunt down Fabian Cortez.
Kitty got Wolverine's as a result of being in physical contact with him and phasing him while Fabian was super charging Wolverine's powers.

How would super charging Wolverines powers negatively affect him?

IIRC, mutant's who have their powers super charge by Cortez burn themselves out (or something like that).

Eventually but with a lot of mutants it does immediate damage like with Cyclops beams being super charged. Would his senses just overwhelm him?
Another question about Cortez? Has Claremont given him extra powewrs in the Forever universe? The guy I saw in X books in the late 90s could not of handled a team like he did in issue #1.

Kitty was no longer a teenager during Whedon's run.

My recollection of the powers Cortez has is pretty much what was said. He supercharges someone's powers and can burn them out in the process. He beat the entire team by himself in Forever?
Ric, I never saw that Ellis interview or had any idea about the redrawn art. However, for me, Warren Ellis' Excalibur left very little doubt that Kitty and Wisdom slept together.
My impression at the time was that Kitty was at least 18. Way I remember it, later in the decade they regressed her age again. I think there was a comic that said she was 16, but I didn't think that was the case at the time Ellis was writing Kitty.

******
Well they beat him but just barely. He seemed to have super strength, and almost seemed like he fed off mutant powers. But I might have misread i,t I was in a bit of a rush when I read it.

Ughh glad I dumped Excalibur before that.
Something was up with Cortez in Forever. I think someone
made a comment during the fight like "we never did know the
full extent of his powers" or something like that. He was
able to punch Rogue so that it hurt her and then made a
comment when holding her that she was like a bottomless
well of power to "absorb".
