Two of my favorite covers from that logo era are #148 and #157. Very explosive battle scenes!

I wondered about that. Do you remember which Kirby issues? #148 looks like something from #61 (i.e. Sandman & Thing). I'm having a difficult time placing the others. I loved Buckler as a kid because he reminded me so much of Kirby. Still do. But it wasn't until I joined this thread that I learned about swiping. I kind of wish I hadn't found out. It's always a bummer when one finds out something distasteful about a favorite author or artist.

Dan--they weren't issue specific. Rich jumped around a lot. He's swipe a
panel here and a face there. If you have FF #144 handy, look at pages 4
and 5-- almost every panel is swiped from FF #55 when the Thing fought
the Silver Surfer. It got to a point where I was so familiar with Jack's stuff
that I'd instantly be able to recognize swipes. It made it tough reading
Rich Buckler or later Keith Pollard who swiped from Ditko on Spider-Man
and Kirby on the FF. Ron Wilson did some of that as well but he generally
was able to blend it in better.
Not that this has anything to do with logos.
I'm surprised nobody brought up the second X-Factor logo (the one
introduced when Simonson was on the book). I was a big fan of the way
the different letter melded into each other--even if the perspective was
off.

You mean this one:
Tricky but clever 3D design by designer Alex Jay, combining telescoping in
two directions- the overall effect is quite impressive.

The classic X-Factor logo was good. I really liked the New X-Men logo too.

With all of the Buckler swiping [Pollard too? Disappointing]...was he asked to do it, for the flavor of
Kirby, or did he "just" do it? Non Kirby Buckler was always
nice on the eyes...

I remember Buckler swiping Neal Adams and John Buscema on the Avengers. I think he was (at the very least) heavily influenced by Buscema, whom he replaced, in the FF as well.

That's what I thought, Erik. I remember this machine from FF #147, pg. 23, which I believe comes from an early Kirby Thor (when Thor meets the Rigellians). I just can't remember which Thor.
