Fantastic! (to pick an obvious adjective)
It's funny, I think of JB's Alicia as having short hair, as she did for the second
half of the run, after she was attacked by Annihilus. Of course I know she
had long hair for 20 years before that story, but, well, I got on that bus
somewhere in the 270s and MY Alicia has short hair!
That said, man this is fantastic!
And, that 's where I came in.

JB, what future plans did you have for Johnny and Alicia when you were
doing Fantastic Four?
••
I was planning a wedding -- but whether it would actually happen, I was
leaving to "Fate".
(I had one "bit" planned. On the wedding day, the FF and Alicia arrive at
the church -- this would have been while Ben was still absent, btw -- to
find it filled to the rafters with beautiful floral arrangements. They find a
note. In honor of this day, a truce between us for so long as
these flowers bloom - Victor von Doom Then something happens that
disrupts the nuptuals, the team deals with it, and are heading back to the
church for a "nice, peaceful wedding!" We cut ahead to the church and
slowly move in on one of the floral dislays, as a single petal falls… I told
Roger about this idea, and I think he used some variant when he was writing
the FF.)

Great piece JB! I too noticed the texture on Doom's cloak. It really adds a nice layer to it. Also, I've always loved the way you draw technology. It just looks like it should actually work. Makes me worry about any plans you might have for world domination.
Btw JT, "Kenny G?" Doom is evil, but nobody, not even Doom could be that cruel.

I call this piece: WATCH OUT!!!! DOOM'S GOIN' FOR HIS GUN!!!!
Yeah, this is probably my favorite FF commission to date. Everything feels
very three dimensional. My favorite figure is Johnny Storm, love the way he's
flying in there for a precision shot. (Also, nice seeing the Invisible Woman
partially visible again! That totally invisible stuff doesn't really work for me -
HA) Always love the way you get these guys working as a team.

One of the stranger examples of editorial intervention came about as a
result of Alicia's short hair. I gave her a line in which she said she'd been
told she looked like Annie Lennox. The editor -- without consulting with
me, natch -- changed it to "like a rock star". Which, since Ms Lennox was
the only female rock star sporting a buzz cut at the time, completely lost
the sense of the line! She didn't look like "a" rock star, she looked like a
very specific rock star.

It was a very unnecessary editorial intervention.
