Sure, you can't help but notice it, I would have to say it's just one of his signature poses.

About the only things I find distracting are artists who really can't tell a story well, or who 'swipe' other people's art.

You look at Kane's body of work for the Silver Age - Rex the Wonder Dog, Johnny Thunder, Green Lantern, the Atom, Amazing Spider-Man, Captain Marvel, Adam Warlock - all of the stuff is top-notch.

We'd better include this guy when it comes to well-drawn Adam Warlock comics -

Agreed, Robert!  JB's definitely got the chops on this one!  The eyes, face, hair, hands and bracelets are all "eye catching" in a really good way!  You can just tell that Warlock wants to grab that spaceship, but carefully, since in his present "enlarged" size, he could obviously crush the ship and do harm to it's lone occupant, one moon-bound Spidey!

Robert,

Your comment is right on the nose!  LOL!

About the only things I find distracting are artists who really can't tell a story well, or who 'swipe' other people's art.

I didn't know anything about "swiping art" until I read about it here at the JBF.  I was quite sad to learn that Rich Buckler was notorious for doing so.  I loved Buckler's art on the FF (#142-163 and Giant-Size #1 & 3 with Sinnott).  Reading those stories made me feel like Kirby was still on the FF!  I also liked the Buckler/Sinnott Thor issues.  IIRC, Buckler swiped an alien device from a Kirby issue of Thor and used it for an underwater device used by the Sub-Mariner in FF #147.  When I finally made that connection, I could see that Buckler was indeed swiping.  Too bad.

One of the weird things about comics (and all entertainment media) is that the media is meant to be entertaining, uplifting, provide an escape, etc.  But it's all written, drawn, filmed, and recorded by humans with various weaknesses and flaws.  As an example, the more I read about all the problems that Kirby had with Lee at Marvel, the more I lose some of the "child-like" joy I have for comics.  Sometimes, ignorance is bliss!

Thinking about Starlin, I get the impression he's kind of a recluse.  Is it just me, or do other people sense that too?  He had a web site up for years, and then let it disappear.  He was working on his Kid Kosmos TPB part 2, but I haven't heard anything about it.  I read his latest work on the New Gods and Rann Thanagar, but other than that, Starlin doesn't seem too active in comics or on the net.  Anybody know why this is the case?

I didn't realize his site was gone until you mentioned it.  That is very odd indeed as it was going for years as you said.

I don't know what's being done with lately but he was always one of my favorite comic characters.

Anthony - He is a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy which is one of my favorite books being put out by Marvel or DC.

The team is a mix of the Infinity Watch (Warlock, Gamaora, Drax), the Guardians (Major Victory, Star-Lord) and some off-beat characters (Rocket Raccoon, Bug).  It is fun and worth the read I think.

Anthony, I still can't thank you enough for the M&M versions you made for me during the M&M craze.  That's an avatar I've kept, and not only around these parts. Kudos!

Anthony, there are a couple of collection of the new Guardians of the Galaxy (with AW) available.  I have the first, but have yet to read it.  Want to get the Warlock Masterworks as well, especially the Starlin one... despite the fact that I've got most of it elsewhere already.

And credit where credit is due.  =)
