Awesome commission! Simply amazing how one picture can bring back so
 many happy comic-buying memories.

The New Avengers image is, on the other hand, perfectly horrifying. As a
kid, I don't know what I would have thought walking into my friendly
neighbourhood drugstore and seeing one of my all-time favourite teams not
only killed, but to have them displayed in such a bloody mess.

I've said this before but the First Line (from the Lost Generation series)
would sure match up well with Alpha.

 Yankee Clipper vs. Guardian
 Yeti vs. Sasquatch
Black Fox vs. Puck (Judd and Paine would probably be pals in real life)
 Mako vs. Marrina
 Walkabout vs. Box
 Effigy vs. Snowbird
Pixie & Oxbow vs. Northstar and Aurora (Oxie and Jean Paul would both go
thru a wall for the number one ladies in their life...)

I'm still drooling over this one. Thanks a lot for the uber-huge scan.  Congrats to the owner, please out yourself so I can track you down and start planning my breaking-and-entering.

Love it! Man, this brings back some wonderful memories of these great characters.
JB, when you do a drawing like this with so many characters, which one do you start with? Do you start in the middle and work your way out? Or do you start with the character in the foreground and work your way back?

I start with the figure, or figures, I feel is/are going to define the
"landscape" of the piece. In this case, Sasquatch.
