As great as each individual Alphan looks in this piece, Puck stands out to
me! What a great character -- he (and all of Alpha Flight) deserved so much
more than the crap other writer hoisted on to him.

RIP Eugene Milton Judd -- you lost your way as of Alpha Flight #30.

John, I know that you have your reservations about AF, but after hearing all
the praises on this forum for the characters and your creation/run on the
book, don't you realize what a special thing you have created? Does it
boggle your mind that fans find AF so meaningful to them?

••

I much appreciate the intensity of emotion AF fans show for the characters
and my work with them. I just don't share it!

I built Alpha out of a lot of "damaged" parts -- deliberately so. It was very
strange to watch others "fix" all the damage. Basically, to strip the
characters and the book of any chance to be unique.

JB:
Given a completely new administration at Marvel -- if an editorial staff asked you to do an AF mini-series, like a "Hidden Years" project - would you do it?  Would you need a big fat pay check to even consider it or is there no amount of money and editorial crew that could make you re-visit the boys and girls from up north?

I came this><close to doing an Alpha Flight related series back in the
90s. An editor contacted me about working up something he had in mind
involving Northstar and Aurora. The editor was Gay, and he wanted to play
up that aspect. I thought that would be a good series, especially with some
of the other ideas the editor suggested. The Powers That Were killed it.

JB, did you have a "casting choice" for Northstar? Was there one real-life
face you were modeling him on?

••

Aurora's face came first, and I based Jean Paul's on that. I don't recall having
a "model" for her.
