The Tarzan comics with a lot of Spanish artists (I think Jose Ortiz and Martin Salvador were among them), were they DC, Marvel or a European production? I no longer have the comics, and I don't recall.

Must be a European production, Knut.  Neither of the artists you mentioned did work on DC or Marvel's Tarzan.  At DC the artists were first Kubert alone, then Kubert layouts finished by Redondo, Florese, or Reyes, then finally Garcia Lopez on the last few issues (some of his first DC work).  At Marvel I'm pretty sure the Buscema brothers were the only artists on the whole run.

The demand for Tarzan comics in Europe was huge.  In the 60's they reprinted the Gold Key stuff, but in the 70's the European market inexplicably did not like the grittier Kubert Tarzan, and so the Burroughs estate contracted with Manning to produce comics just for the European market.  Mark Evanier and Dan Spiegle also worked on them, among others.  Perhaps the comics you remember were something similar.  None of the European-only Tarzan stuff has been reprinted in the US to my knowledge.

Man o man, can't somebody collect those Marvel Tarzans in TPBs? Dark Horse has the rights currently unless I'm mistaken (seeing that they put out the Manning editions (albeit a while ago) as well as those Kubert HCs)... who do we lobby?

What I like about the one Dark Horse edition of Manning's Tarzan I've seen is that someone eliminated the silly red colouring someone at Gold Key had applied to Tarzan's loin cloth, bow and quiver.
