JB,
You have mentioned several times that when designing a costume/uniform for a character there are a number of things the designer should stay concious of:
-Practicality
-Characterization (Does the costume speak" to who the character actually is)
-Style
Also, in reference to IM's armor, you have stated: (paraphrase)
"With the technological advancement of today, IM really shouldn't need a full-body arsenal for an armor..."
Did you/Do you have any suggestions on what the armor should look like?
Aspects that seem ridiculous or work against the character?
Also, What did you think of the armor in the movie (MarkIII)?
Just curious about your opinion.

I think you are misremembering that quote. What I've said is that "realistically" the trend toward all kinds of add-ons and flanges and whatnot kind of runs against the level of technology Stark is supposed to be employing. The armor could be skin-tight and still do what it does. That said, really liked the way they played it in the movie. And, in the comics, he still needs some bulk and ornamentation to look interesting!

Thank you for the immediate reply JB.
I wasn't sure if by today's technological/comic standards, whether we
should be concentrating more on the "suit" than the "armor"?

I've always prefered a sleaker look to Shellhea's armor. The newer version from, say, the last 10 years have ranged from chitenous to mangaesqueand all seem to ~bells and whistles~ to me. I think the last armor that was created that I liked was the suit Layton came up with at the end of the first Armor Wars.

Didn't care for those weird, clunky boots.

Personal favorites -
To many of the more recent versions have seemed awkward and clunky, not quite as streamlined as I would expect.
I think the movie armor was handled pretty well - and after watching the DVD extras it was interesting to see how they came up with a design that could also be functional enough to work for the actor wearing it.

I liked the Red/Silver armor. There's a page in that issue, #200, that I practiced drawing a lot. I even would put a big sword or axe in his hand, hehe.

The New Coke armor was probably his bulkiest, save for the original silver/gold version.
I do have a fondness for the "pointy" mask though....was glad to see that make a comeback in the late 90's.

I've a fondness too for the Sliver Centurion. Iron Man 200 was my first Iron Man. Well, as a teen buying comics. I have a vague recollection of Iron Man fighting the Blood Brothers.

I love the classic armor - it's what I grew up with drawn by the likes of Don Heck, George Tuska and Gene Colan.
Tuska and Colan got a mention on the Iron Man DVD, sadly Heck didn't. And he designed the supporting cast and some of the best villains! Where's the justice in that?

My two favorite armors are the Silver Centurion suit and the classic red and gold.
Sadly, I don't care at all for any of the armors since the Heroes Return armor, or whatever you call it. (The Heroes Reborn armor is one of the worst!!)

My fav Iron Man armour is the version drawn by JRjr during JB's run.
It took the basic desgin of Layton's and added a certian "heft" to it that made it look like a giant hunk of metal.
