"I have bought all of the GIT releases of Marvel Comics on DVD, and have
copied the contents onto a hard drive for easy access. Later, I
discovered CBR and CBZ files and digital comic readers and slowly
started to pull together a duplicate collection of the comics I have
already purchased. Because I already own the original comics, my
possession of these files is considered "fair use" according to
copyright law. "
I bought the FF, X-Men, Spider-Man and Avengers DVDs. The scans are good quality but Adobe Acrobat is a huge pain to scroll around in. It takes a while to load each pair of pages.

I wonder, if one has bought a comic book (say the Next Men) and decides to download to it from the Internet as well, instead of trying to scan it, is it bad practice? Also, I have purchased all of JB's Starbrand issues, except for the last one, which I plan on getting maybe next year. When I read the rest of the issues, I found that I wanted to read the final chapter as well, and not wait another year. I downloaded it and read it. The fact that I will eventually buy the copy itself is indifferent to both JB and Marvel. They get no dime out of it, either way... I think Marvel was clever to start releasing the DVD collections of their books. That shows that they adapt to the world around them, or at least try. Digital comics is a very good idea but can in no way compare to the real thing. But, comparing downloading comics to downloading music or movies is apples and oranges, if there is not an official digital collection. I consider charging high prices for old comics as, if not more, criminal as downloading free digital copies.

Adobe Acrobat is a total pos. I hate that software. There are free readers from nobodies with a better zooming quality.
All used and sold at a ridiculous price. Is the publisher getting a cut out of that 150$ extra? How's that for piracy?

If the DVDs that MARVEL released have JPG images, the best program is cdisplay. It is very comfortable to use.

Martin I use cdisplay and I agree that it is very confortable (specially in a 42" Full HD LCD tv). I have Marvel DVD for FF and is PD not JPG. And the scan quality is poor.
