I also parted with this one. Sacrifices must be done to get more expensive
pieces if you have limited budget.

BTW, in this gallery you'll find the originals of all Punisher War Zone #5
including the cover. I comment it just for the joy of viewing his original art,
although it's also for sale. I have no comission.

Link.

John Romita Jr., the best penciler working in comics today.

I'm a HUGE fan of the Modern Masters books-- I have 7 or 8 on my shelf next to the ol' drawing table anytime I need inspiration.

I can't wait to get my hands on the JRjr book-- he's probably my favorite current illustrator in comics.

Well, JR is awesome when he draws any comic......so why waste the talent on SPAWN???

----
Nathan, I'd agree with that. I'd have to say, if there's one "downside" to JRJR, its his choice of projects..... It seems he'll draw ANYTHING....

Now, that said, as a marketing ploy... it works.... he, along with JB and Alan Davis are the only people I actually go out of my way to buy.

When I look at sentry or Eternals, I think ... Wow, even JRJR couldn't make this good.

Mark Millar is lucky to have him on Kick Ass. I think the book itself is not very good. Once again, it seems like, "hey, if Quenton Tarrantino can do this in movies, why can't I do it in a comic book." Personally, I don't think comics needs that stuff. It's a glaring example of the problem.

BUT... the art IS fantastic. It really is. but it belongs in Heavy Metal. Bad story, Great art. Another one that seems a WASTE of JRJR's talents.

Very frustrating that I love his art so much, yet I feel forced to buy books I don't like just to see it.

I like Kick-ASs, but it more of a guilty pleasure. I agree on Eternals though.
Not very good.

Ten again, is there a current Marvel book that is good enough for him?

I could write all day about how much I love JR Jr's work, but I'll just say this:

Look over the pages posted here and appreciate how much reality is infused in what is really a very abstracted style of drawing. JR Jr's forms are blocky and squared off, but he sells the weight of things, you see the effect of gravity when he draws. These characters and environments don't float at all - they're solid, they're real. On top of that, his storytelling is impeccable. You can follow the blocking from frame to frame. If a guy gets an elbow to his face, you'll see JR Jr set up how that elbow got there in the previous panel. He's a freakin' genius.

Since John Romita, Jr. left AMAZING I haven't bought any comic book drawn by him, except for WORLD WAR HULK. Anyway, he's one of my favorite artists, and I'm glad I'll se him again on ASM.

My first exposure to his work was the PUNISHER/BATMAN special, and I didn't like it... he had a too particular style for me. When he came aboard on SPIDER-MAN (and then PETER PARKER), I started to appreciate him.

I always liked his first run on ASM (where Jim Mooney did a beautiful job as inker on several issues), the two runs on IRON MAN, his long ride on DAREDEVIL (where I hated Ann Nocenti's stories, though) and THOR. Yep, he did an excellent work on the god of thunder title. Not bad STARBRAND, maybe UNCANNY X-MEN wasn't one of the best ones.

PETER PARKER and THOR are my #s1, hands down.

Honestly, I don't think JRJr.'s style is so beautiful, if compared to others'. But the impact those pages have...! His arts have a huge power, they really communicate something. Sometimes, style ain't everything. I buy a comic book drawn by JR Jr. and I say "THIS is a comic book which resembles a comic book!" No photoshop, no paintings... just pure comic book. And a good one!

Man, I can't wait to see him when he'll come in Italy! I have a bag of books waiting for his autograph!

I wanted to like KICK @$$ because of JR, Jr., but the first issue didn't grab me.

The only artist whose rendition of Spider-Man almost caused me to breakdown and start buying Spider-product again. His stuff is incredible.

...Hey, maybe if I bought a bottle of White-Out, and blanked-out the word/thought balloons, so as to not be subjected to the lame story and dialogue...
