So tempted to check out his upcoming Spider-Man stuff, but I'm avoiding any Spider-Man titles until BND is over.
JR Jr would be a great choice for artist if someone decided to do a James Bond book. At Adventurecon last year there was a guy going around getting James Bond sketches from various artists, and the one JR Jr did was terrific. (I got an Iron Man headshot sketch - its in my CAF gallery) I think its the way JR Jr did the intense look in the eyes that cinched it.
I'll have to see if the bookstore I frequent can get the MM book in when I go back there next week.

To me, John is not only a brilliant artist, a professional in the true sense of the word, but also down to earth. I had the privilege of meeting him a few years ago at a con, and he comes across as someone who genuinely cares for his craft. I bought his book to gain some insight- what a great talent.

I enjoyed JRJR's work from his early "Iron Man" issues up to now. There's just something really cool about his stuff!

We are really lucky that he didn't quit doing comics to go into advertising
after he felt very disenchanted with the industry after his run on Star Brand,
and after he was fired from X-Men circa his Punisher/Batman crossover.
He was also very close to join Image's boys at the start of the company at
Jim Lee's request. I wonder what would happen with his career if he would
agreed to join them. I suppose that we couldn't enjoy almost two issues of
his work each month like we do now.
You'll find more details of these chapters of his life in the MM and in Rough
Stuff #3.

"I understand getting rid of the 70's afro..."
---
There's nothing wrong with him having a 'fro. I just haven't been able to
figure out why he, Black (ugh) Goliath, Brother Voodoo and the Falcon all
had to bare their chests.

I've been a JRjr fan since the late 70s and it's really been a joy to see him evolve and grow over the last three decades. He's one of my favorite artists. Didn't know this Modern Masters had been published, so after reading this thread I went straightaway to Amazon to order it. Looking forward to reading it!

I think he's named "Anti-Venom". Which is actually kinda clever.

That "Reverse Venom" guy is Anti-Venom. Cool design, but did we need another spin-off of a doppleganger character? Somewhere, Professor Zoom is wondering when his clone character is going to be created.
