I hear so much about the Nocenti/JRJR Daredevil run. Is all/most/any of this collected in trades?

Nope. Only the Typhoid Mary arc. I recently got all of their run minus the Typhoid Mary issues because I had the trade. You can find them pretty cheap. And they are damn awesome, art-wise. Some of the stories I didn't really get in to that much, but hot damn, this is where JRjr broke outta his shell. I really liked him before that thanks to X-Men and Spider-Man ( didn't have any of his Iron Man yet) but he just grew leaps and bounds on this series.

Looking back on some of the issues of that run, it really made me realize how...strange Nocenti's dialogue was. I didn't think the stories held up that well (weird, unnatural dialgoue...storylines revolving around whatever political/social issue Nocenti was into at the time, etc.) but the art is DAMN beautiful. The Man Without Fear series is a much better example of JR Jr's great art backed up by a great story.

I received MODERN MASTERS Volumes 5 (Garcia-Lopez), 6 (Adams) and 8
(Simonson) from Amazon today. Joy! (I also got the latest issue of
GEEK which has been really hit or miss with me.)

Nocenti's characters seemed to have some big problems in their heads, when talking.

I thought the Jose Garcia-Lopez and JB issues were flat-out amazing, but this volume just might be my all-time favorite. JR Jr. is a really interesting guy. He's very humble and quite honest about his progression as an artist. The anecdotes are excellent. I really liked how he described being a young artist and going into Manhattan for work and fun. He had some cash to spend and he knew how to have a good time. When it was time for work though, he was certainly dedicated. Seeing his work over the years collected here really conveys the stellar qualities of his drawing.
The last JR Jr series I bought was "Man Without Fear" (back when they still sold comics in grocery stores, sigh). I feel like I've missed out on a lot of great stuff. So much to catch up on!

Sounds like an interesting volume, Ferran. Was there any info in Previews on how many pages it will be and more exactly what will be included in terms of issues and titles. None of that seemed available on the site you linked. And all of which would be central to my getting a copy or not.

He did, Paulo. If you click the link at the bottom of Ferran's post for the
larger version, it's a poster subtitled "Might Marvel Heroes & Villians by John
Romita Sr. and Alex Ross."
I'm assuming Ross painted over JRsr's pencils.
I like it too.
