It does seem like attempting to recreate his inks makes an "After John Byrne and Joe Sinnott" applicable.

In this unpublished panel from FF #15 you can see how it was Dick Ayers
who softened Thing's original shape, more rocky. Maybe Dick's intention
was to make a transition from his original muddy look.
My vote is also on "after Sinnott".

"After Byrne and Sinnott" you mean, surely?
And the inherent redundancy is the chief reason I hesitated.

JB wrote: "Scary as it might be -- on a scale of one to ten maybe not so much -- my version of the Thing there still fell a long way short of how Kirby drew him in FF1. Altho the King 'humanized' Ben pretty fast over the next few issues, in that initial outing he really was a 'thing'."
While I agree that Kirby's initial Thing was indeed more of a "thing", I think your modernised version of that above still wins the scary contest (and here I'm not discounting the impact of the pose itself which add something scary to the picture). And even I do agree that Kirby's intial way of drawing him was very good, the rock hard, cracked exterior is my kind of Thing, mostly since that's the way I've seen him most, and especially when it counted to make the most important impression.
Incidentally, and I may have mentioned this somewhere before, but when I was little and character's names got translated (for better or worse) into Swedish, the Thing was known over here as Big Ben (which I think we can all agree has a rather English twang to it as well, what with "big" not being a Swedish word and all)... which was a wee bit confusing when I learned what his name really was.

What's Swedish for "thing" in this context?

What about "With acknowledgement to Sinnott's embellishment"?

"After myself and Sinnott" or "After Byrne/Sinnott" seems like the most accurate, clumsy as they are. Tis a pity that there's no "Swanderson" equivalent for the two of you as a team, as that would read better. After Byrnott?

maybe just on the boarder next to "copyright Marvel" -- write "original by John Byrne and Joe Sinnott"
This way it could be standard when you recreate a page from, say X-Men, "original by Byrne and Austin".
Just a thought
