I find myself looking at the figures in the background of panel two. Not so much by layout as a preference for people over robotic forms. Which is more story related that the art itself, never did read a lot of Rom. I didn't know Ditko was penciling any of it at the time. I did read the Micronauts though.
Now I've gone and confused myself...

JB,
Love the stories about your meetings with Ditko!
Isn't it funny how tales of Ditko encounters are sort of the comicbook world's version of Bigfoot sightings? We all think he's really cool, we love to hear stories about him....but does he really exist?!?!?!

Frank Miller's once-upon-a-time girlfriend, Laurie Sutton, had a wonderful
Ditko-encounter story. She met him up at DC, and searching for something
complimentary that he might not have heard a few hundred times before,
she said "Mr. Ditko, nobody draws Limbo like you!"
With a perfectly straight face, Ditko replied "That's because they haven't
been there."

That's it! Someone has to put together a book of short stories describing Ditko encounters.

Chris Durnell,
Check the thread on STRANGE AND STRANGER: THE WORLD OF STEVE
DITKO to learn more on this great book about this mythical author:
Link.
Very interesting points on Steve's relation with fans, his devotion for Ayn
Rand's philosophy (known as Objetictivism) and its heavy influences on
his more important decisions, and how this beliefs led him to hard
economic problems when he could be rich by selling his old artwork and
by drawing comissions.
Hard to find another person so much faithful to his beliefs as Steve.
BTW, I loved John's finishes on ROM #74. The same with Craig Russell's
work on the final issues of ROM. Steve was lucky to find great artist who
were also big fans to embellish his work to make it interesting for the
standards of that age, while old fashioned embellishers like Sinnott
declined to work on his layouts because they were too simple.
Also is very curious to see how an artist like JB, who has a legion of fans,
behave like a fan himself to someone else. Thanks for sharing these
stories!
