There are no bad super heroes, only bad writers.

Well, "Funnyman" wasn't great, but still...

Then there was the so-called Captain Marvel who broke himself up into various body parts by yelling "Split!"  A true classic!

Let us not forget Super Green Beret.

These guys make the Legion of Substitute Heroes look like the Avengers (to mix companies) by comparison.

I SO have this one covered:

MADAME FATAL
First appearance: CRACK COMICS #1, May 1940
Secret Identity: Richard Stanton
Richard Stanton’s daughter is kidnapped, which forces the retired actor to hunt for her on his own.  Donning the appearance of an old woman, he manages to avoid suspicion and track her down.  Stanton recognizes he can be an effective force for good by remaining in disguise and bringing other criminals to justice as Madam Fatal.

Most men dress in tights and cloaks to combat crime, but the gender bending conceit of Madam Fatal’s the old lady disguise is an equally plausible device.  For two years, Madam Fatal used his walking stick to strike a blow against crime.

Geriatric transvestitism...and it was in CRACK Comics! Dudes, what do I win??

Could Stan and Jack have originally wanted to call Reed Richards "Plastic Man"?

I don't care for Vibe, Vixen, Gypsy, and Steel of the Justice League.

To me, just about any character can be interesting under the right circumstances.

Ant-Man always struck me as one of the least effective superheroes. After all, what other hero has been menaced by such terrors as a housecat and a rotary fan! (Seriously, these things happened in his early adventures). But is Ant-Man an interesting character? You bet! The concept of living seeing the world from such a different perspective is fascinating, I think.

My problem with Dr. Strange is that Ditko's run was so good that I'm not sure anyone else has been able to live up to it.

Thor has suffered from a lot of bad and boring stories over the years (I'm not a big fan of much of his stuff pre-Simonson). But Simonson proved that Thor can be a great character -- you just have to find the right stories.

Another good example of what Bruce writes is Daredevil. Before Frank Miller, Daredevil was really just a watered down Batman, with Spider-Man's humor thrown in.

Matt sez:
"I dunno, Paul. Imagine a Madam Fatal mini-series by Garth Ennis. Heh."

OK...I imagine it'd have dismemberments, flying body parts, lots of cussing, and page after page after page of Richard Stanton sitting and discussing and/or thinking about how dressing up like an old lady feels right and completes him, but makes him feel dirty. And Depends jokes.
