This issue was the first in a pretty fun little three-part story involving the Ringer, the Gibbon and the Beetle. Leave it to Roger Stern to take a B-list villain like the Beetle and make him interesting and threatening.

This is not the first time I have read that Shooter had faces you drew ordered to be redrawn, JB.  Why in the world would he believe you didn't draw faces well and why have such a leash on you all the time?  Was this universal with artists or did he just do this to you?  I would hope it was his control freak nature which motivated him....but seems quite ridiculous when you think of how artists get away with tracing and aping so much.  Where is the person who has tight control when they need them...for real?  There was never anything in your work beit 1970s - now that needed to be redrawn, ever!

Maybe Shooter did it for the same reason DC had Murphy Anderson redraw Jack Kirby's Superman faces on  his Jimmy Olsen run?

As far as Colletta inks go, I give this issue a 6 or 7. The guy definitely knew how to ink but I have seen better efforts from Vince.
