I can get by without the trunks as a standard costume element, as long as there is something else (besides a belt) to create a midline break -- the Silver Age Green Lantern springs immediately to mind -- or the costume is without modeling and/or highlites, like Neal's Havok. The current Hal Jordan GL, and Batman during the time editorial decided to leave off the trunks but keep the utility belt, just look like they forgot to put their pants on! Curiously, this is not a problem I have with the Ditko Spider-Man costume.

I thought it was Marie Severin that retouched the Fang outfit in "Iron Fist"
#15?
••
Marie redrew Wolverine's head/face in the Japanese issue that Terry didn't
ink. That was the issue where Shooter told me my inks were not good
enough to do the job myself, then handed the book off to an inker so
unfamiliar with the characters he inked Logan as the Beast! (Marie's
correction, of course, would not have been necessary if the inker had simply
inked what I had drawn, instead of deciding he needed to "fix" it!)

Why is he drawing Nightcrawler with what looks to be more than two front toes? It looks like Nightcrawler has one big toe, and several other toes shoved into the spot where he used to have one other toe when drawn by, well, every other artist ever!
I really can't stand Simone Bianchi's work. He changes changes things on every book he is on.

I think guys like Captain America and Daredevil can probably do without trunks since their trunks, if they have them, are the same color as their leggings.

Wow, looking at it up close, that is a really hideous design. What's up with the hair and elongated ears?

I'm not a fan either, going by those character designs.

You'd be surprised, Paulo! Those mid-figure breaks can make a lott of
difference!

Perhaps it doesn't look correct, but I wouldn't say it looks bad! I think the current replacement Cap has full leggings (too lazy to check right now!) and it isn't bad.

The current Cap has black leggings (or pants). Not a fan of that design.

That's what geniuses like Grant Morrison will never understand...Superman has the red trunks for a very specific design reason, to break up the overall blue and provide balance between the red cape and the red boots.
You know, when it comes to the great designs of the past, just trust that those guys knew what they were doing. TRUST THEM.

It's all about the pouches and straps these days. Hard to believe that their designers can't see how ass-ugly they are.

In real life Superman would of wore them for another reason. Its the same reason wrestlers would wear trunks over their long tights.
