I wondered about that, too. I assumed that the X-Men hung out in NYC a few more days after their space adventure (they returned to Earth at Jean's apartment in Greenwich Village if I remember correctly). So they went to Jean and Misty's party, then went back to the mansion in Westchester at the beginning of #109. Logan was in civvies in the beginning of IF#15 (someone correct me if I'm wrong) so he decided to put the Fang outfit for battle with Iron Fist instead of fighting in street clothes, having no other costume available, I guess.
Also, it seems like right after that adventure, Jean moved out of that apartment and lived back at the mansion full-time.

Mike, can you show that costume without the necklace, bracelets and boot adornments, keeping the gloves and boots the same colour as the rest of the outfit? I think that would be a good redesign.

Wolverine was in costume, under street clothes, outside Jean Grey's apartment when we first see him in IF 15.

One of my favorite continuity bits in that scene, where he tears in half the picture of Jean and Scott. Later he pulls that same picture from under his belt in UXM 114. It always struck me as weird that he seemed to miss the presumed dead Jean at that point more than Scott did.

Blech.
Personally, I prefer JB's redesign for the Wolverine outfit.
I think that design would look great in gray tones!

It's even WORSE than that, Jason! I drew Wolverine in his usual duds, and editorial had them redrawn as the Fang outfit. | | |
Wow. I'd remembered you mentioning the redrawn faces, but I didn't know they had Dave redraw the costume for that issue, too. Was it Archie Goodwin or Dave himself who initiated all the redrawing?

I thought it was Marie Severin that retouched the Fang outfit in "Iron Fist" #15?

Clearly, wearing such clunky, heavily detailed costumes, the X-Men are in for a season of talking head stories.

Both designs for the Beast look lame. And Wolverine looks dumb with an X plastered on his chest.
