I'd be one of those "lots of guys out there."
I've got no particular love for what was going on in the Spider-books prior to OMD, although I did find Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man to be quite enjoyable.
A co-worker's been picking up Amazing since BND started, and I've read his copies (up to about halfway through the Wolverine/blizzard/Chris Bachalo storyline) and found them to be stunningly mediocre, at their best. While even mediocrity may be an improvement over much of what came before, it certainly hasn't made me forget that Peter made a deal with the devil to get us there, nor has it shown me anything that couldn't have been done without said deal. And it's also not demonstrated to me that it's worth anything approaching 9 bucks a month to read.
