Marie is the Osmond I like the most -- probably because she was the one I spent the least amount of time with. I was out on "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" right as Donny was leaving for his and Marie's ill-fated talk show -- remember that?
I had a great job on that show as the children's choir director. I would arrive in town a week before the show, train a local kid's chorus for five days and then put them in as the "audience" for the "lesson" that the Narrator is telling with the story of Joseph. Cake job -- and generally a lot of fun -- but it wore on me after a while. I HATED the show (typical Andrew Lloyd Webber schlock), but enjoyed working with the kids, who really dug doing it.
The Osmonds were a trip. When Donny left, his nephew David took over the role (Alan's oldest son) -- with his brother "Osmonds, the 2nd Generation." David did it for a year or so, then had to go out on his "mission," so Patrick Cassidy took over from there -- and he's remained one of my best friends.
They really do believe that Mormon tripe -- Alan and I once argued for over three hours by a rooftop pool in Dallas about the nature of Satan -- and more than once told me that they "loved me regardless of my sexual choices." I told them I loved them, too, regardless of their weird religion.
