I've been a Manilow fan since the '70's. His stuff is great to sing along with in the car, his LIVE album is to this day is one of my all time favorites, and if you can find his old PBS special on YouTube, he does a medley of the jingles he wrote, including..

  • "I am stuck on Band-Aid, and a Band-Aid's stuck on me..."
  • "Like a good neighbor...State Farm is there....."
  • "Grab a bucket and mop...scrub the bottom and top, tell me what does it mean..at McDonald's it's clean....."
  • "Im a Pepper, he's a Pepper, she's a Pepper....."

Hell of an entertainer....

Manilow is a frickin' genius! I love all those jingles! Band-Aid and State Farm

Three notes that made him a fortune.

Hell - the theme for "American Bandstand" was his, too.

My wife has a pretty good Manilow story - I'll see if I can get her to post it here...

Get her to, please!  I've told my Shirley Jones story, but I have a pretty good Leonard Bernstein story and a VERY funny Jodi Benson story (also have a good Deb Gibson bit).  And a MILLION stories about working with the Osmonds... <shudder>
