Al Cook Curious: Are you gay, Jesus? I don't think so. I don't fancy men for sex despite growing up reading about handsome and muscular superheroes in tight outfits. That being said, I did pop a couple of boners watching gay porn once, but it was during an extended dating drought so all bets are off. Up to about 10 years of age, I was a bit of a mamma's boy along with being bookish, nerdy and non-athletic. More than a few times I got called f*g from across the street. From 10 years of age on I started adding humor to my repertoire so my behavioral mannerisms became merely excentric. Got approached twice in high school. Last time it was an invitation to share a shower during the prom by one of my buddies. DAMMMNNNNEEEDDD if I saw THAT one coming. Got appearance and weight conscious in my middle 30's and served a tour of duty as the resident metrosexual at least 8 years before the term came into common usage. Don't tell me girls aren't attracted to guys they can share diet and exercie tips with. I am fascinated by the alienation that gays seem to experience in our world. It's part of a larger pattern of life for me. I got alienated from my father who tried to raise me old-style Spanish and macho. He resented me wearing glasses cause that meant he had to have defective genes. The Roman Catholic English and French children and adults in Montreal didn't cotton to my usurping the Lord's name -- another gift from my dad Jesus the Senior. By age 7 some French speaking adult were outright calling me a f*cking wop -- more alienation for the majority class. The english kids thought I was frenchie, fatty, four-eyes, with the funny name. Didn't fit anywhere so figured f*ck every body ... it'd just do what I want and becaome a culture of one. Schocked to find out late in life that many people felt as I did. So, again, the alienation I hear coming out of the posts in this thread -- well camouflage by humor and intelligence -- strikes a chord that resonates for me a bit. Sorry for the bio, but I like to give complete, contextual answers to complex questions. Thank God I'm not a teacher, I guess.
