Is 35k enough for your soul? I have a bigger number in mind.

Sorry, this is your fight, not mine. I'll stay out of it until asked.

Today i congratulate those Irish people...David can be happy today!

It's a good start all right. I didn't think the president would take much time to sign it given her background.

Speaking of the presidency, there is a campaign to elect an openly gay senator to the job in the next election. In Ireland, there are three ways to get nominated 1) 20 members of parliament nominate you, 2) 4 county (kind of like states) councils nominate you or 3) you nominate yourself (if you are the sitting president). I think as a senator, he could get 20 people from the upper or lower house to nominate him as an independent.

Keep hold of your feelings OK?....we are talking about the girl being discriminated for trying to bring her girlfriend to the prom. Faking a prom was outrageous for her.She did fight and she got that beautiful moment in life ruined forever. That money will help her finance her education.

Last year we did suffer discrimination because we got married. The result was that my husband is working in LA and i have to be here until in find a way to get a job and migrate there, Because as a binational couple, my iowa gay marriage is useless for migration. i won't gonna get into details.

What i did learn about that, is that there are fights that have to end. In the case of this girl, the fight finished with that educational institute, she showed them and they had to pay for it. That girl has to do as we, pick up the pieces of your life, keep living and making your life worth living.

The real fight is in everyday life, when we come out of the closet with someone, when we show society that we are PEOPLE, when another couple marries, when a mom is proud of his/her gay son/daughter.

It's not my fight, it's everyones. To end discrimination.

Has there been any ruling yet in California regarding overturning Prop 8?  I thought both sides rested awhile back but haven't really seen anything in the news about it.  Overturning DADT doesn't require Congressional approval, as far as I know it can be accomplished via Executive Order, so what's the delay?  Obama concerned he'll anger the religious right?  As if this is the one thing that will make them dislike him.  In a situation like this, he needs to adopt a "screw you and deal with it" attitude.

I think partly to blame is Obama's desire that DADT is killed by Congress, else his Executive Order merely a temporary measure until the next President who opposes the overturn.  But part of it is the ugly politics of hate.

I kind of see where Obama is coming from, but at the same time if he overturns it and the entire military doesn't crumble any future President would have a hard time restoring it.

The thing that kills me is that we already have gays in the military. When I was in we had people we knew were gay. None of the people I served with had a problem with it. At least no openly. I don't give a shit what his sexual persuasion is as long as he does his job.

Bill, that's the thing I feel more than anything in that subject.  Unless I am actually interested in having sex (or a romantic relationship) with a person, their sexuality doesn't mean shit to me, simply because it's not something that should bother me one way or another.  And I'm thinking a person needs to be a rather twisted combination of not being able to cope with somebody making a pass on them and believing just about everyone will.  Heck, if a gay person would make a pass on me, I'd be flattered but inform said individual that I'm not interested. Much in the same manner I would if a woman I'm not interested in would do the same.

And if we fear a gay person not taking no for an answer, I don't see  a) how this is really any different from straight person of the opposite sex not taking no for answer (and I bet there are a few homophobes out there who simultaneously treat women to such nice manners), or  b) how that says anything about gay people rather than an ill-mannered individual.  And those, I think, comes in all kinds of sexualities.

Silly, silly, silly. All the way through.

Horrible, simply horrible

Of all the reasons to despise someone, I still don't get homophobia.
