What a beautiful animal.  I hope that the DNR can catch it safely before someone feels threatened enough to shoot it.

Don't be too jealous, Jodi.  I'm coming off of a bad work week that culminated in an eight hour day yesterday outside in cold winds at 20-30 mph all day, a run in with a couple nasty customers AND a coworker and, of course, the "how can I pay my rent" conundrum this month.

And I usually love colder weather but yesterday was too much.

Kind of like gay rights.  I hope that the government can usher them into safe existence before some idiot feels threatened enough to shoot them...

Happy anniversary from Julie & I, Tom & Eric...while I may not participate here too often, it's always fun to stick my head in on occassion and see what everybody is up to.

Hey Ed - does the Bronx Zoo have reciprocal privileges with the Philadelphia Zoo? We have friends in NY and are always looking for kid friendly things to do when we visit them.

Marc, unfortunately it does not.

It does have "Donation Day" on Wednesdays which is a "pay what you wish" day (for General Admission only.)  Wednesdays, as a result, are crazy.   Also, if you buy tix online, you can get various discounts applied that you cannot at the front gate (AAA, etc.)

If anybody wants more info, you can email me via here or go to www.bronxzoo.com

I can tell you the best ways to get maximum enjoyment and what does not need to be seen right away.

Ed - What area do you work at the zoo?

Jason, this is my recession job, so I am working admissions.  But I like it because you're in a different spot each day - cars one day, cashiering the next, ticket taking at the Congo exhibit the next.

Plus, I love seeing wild animals and then having this ridiculous juxtaposition of the projects looming in the background.

Ed, that is pretty sweet.  Some days I wish I could just deal with some guests and get around to see some of the animals (I can go days and days without seeing any).  I almost literally get locked into an office a lot of days and spend what seems the whole time politic-ing.  Ah, the lonely world of spread sheets and cash.

Jason, there are a lot of exhibits I still haven't seen.  But I have seen the baby lion cubs a few times on my way to and from stations.  I don't see THAT many animals every day, just whoever may be out as I am rushing to and fro.  But I see a lot of peacocks.  The peacocks are allowed to roam the zoo as they wish and they are all over the place.

My favorite are the gorillas.  I want to hug them.

Eric and I officially ("legally") tied the knot on our second anniversary of exchanging our vows, May 10th!

I was surprised at how emotional it was, tacky plastic flower covered arch or not!

Here are some pics:
