Hi Everyone!

Happy Easter to all!

Finally got the apostille and got it translated to Spanish. With that in hand, we are gonna try to validate our marriage here in Mexico City.

And my hubby is gonna start a temporal job in San Clemente, California. That would last between a 6 - 12 months. That's gonna put some stress in our lives, because thanks to DOMA, i can't migrate with my husband and get me a green card and find me a job. So, while i find some company that would sponsor me, a Computer Science Engineer, a working visa, I'll come and visit him every 1 1/2 month, and live in Mexico City with the dog and the cat.

Pedro that is a great week!!   I am so happy for everyone there.

Juan the separation is going to stink, but it can also be pretty exciting, if you know what I mean *wink wink*  Chuck was in school when we starting dating, I had taken the year off from school to work.

We were friends freshman year, he had a crush on me I didn't know about, well I came back to visit my roommate and we went to a party and Chuck was there. We talked and I just knew he was the guy I wanted to be in my life. We started dating and for the next year we didn't get to see each other much at all. But, oh baby, when we did!!!!! We wrote letters to each other that are still in my drawer with a ribbon around them.

Tell hubby that you are going to not just send emails, but write actual love letters on wonderful stationary, to each other. Then when you are old and gray you guys can revisit that time in your life.

And for those with a dirty mind, they weren't x rated at all, they were very romantic. I recommend everyone that is in love to write your true love a few of these. Speaking as a woman I loved it !!!!

Oh and when Chuck and I  finally moved into together I unpacked one of his boxes and there in a really cool box were my letters to him.

oh I forgot this bit: the proposed same-sex law got the constitutional court's approval but the (conservative) president can still veto it. Unfortunately for him - and right wing Portuguese - he can only do this once. if/when he does it the law goes back to parliament and it can be resubmited without any change. If this happens - and it will because the same majority that voted for this law is still in place - the president will have no choice but to sign it into law.

So in reality his hands are tied :)

Juan: If he's going for just 6-12 months can't you get a temp visa? I dunno how things work but it shouldn't be as hard.. :/

@Jodi: Wow Jodi. You made my day. Thanks. Vincent and i will be in touch almost daily, thanks to the magic of Skype and Facebook. We have friends that have been a couple for almost 5 years and one of them lives in NY and the other works on the USA Department of State and travels a lot. They use Skype and have dinner together every night. We will follow their example. And i plan to use my long weekends to visit Vincent(mainly "Mexican Parties", Thanksgiving and Christmas).

@Pedro: As things are developing, seems like Vincent will get something more permanent in the future. And we don't want to be separated for too long. That's why i decided to try to migrate legally to USA. As a Mexican, i can only do it with a "Student Visa", which mean that i could do a Master, but not able to work, and i can't afford that. The other option, is with a "Working Visa", that the company that wants to hire me has to solicit it. Believe me, it's a big mess. I have a "Visitor's Visa", that will let me visit as a tourist, until something comes up, or the upcoming "Migration Reform" includes bi-national same-sex couples.

Hopefully its just a break.

I see that Arc has not been on the forum in a month.  I wonder if someone should email him?

See he should have listened and got a Facebook account.

He was telling about some pretty self-destructive behaviour last time he was here.

Has me wondering.
