Just macaroni, extra sharp cheddar, butter, salt and pepper. Don't shave the cheese, slice it. Put a layer on top. It makes a nice crispy cheese crust. Fill with milk about an inch and a half from the top of the bowl. You know it's done when the cheese on the top turns a nice golden brown. Bake at 425.

Nothing fancy, but I love it.

Jodi, that Mac and Cheese recipe sounds good. I resort to the blue box. :(

Hi Jodi, I've been well thank you for asking.

Since launching my webcomic I haven't had as much time to post and am kind of saving my long posts for my blog so I probably look a little more invisible these days. It's fun, but I wasn't quite aware of just how much time it would take.

I'm not a big seafood guy myself, I like shellfish a lot but fish isn't my thing. My mom is like that too, though she doesn't even like shellfish but my dad loves seafood. Which is a little strange considering he is a quintessential prairie boy, grew up on a farm eating whole chickens and big slabs of meat. Not exaggerating about the whole chickens, he'd come in from the field for lunch and they'd have a chicken apiece with all the fixings. So he has this huge appetite and the first time he met my mom's parents he ran into their food rules. One thin slice of roast beef (3 lb roast split between their 9 kids and the two parents, plus my dad. And they wanted leftovers for the next day), one scoop of mashed potatoes, one scoop of boiled carrots and one spoonful of gravy. Dad said it was the fastest he ever drove to a burger king after politeness allowed him to leave.

Me and my two brothers were huge eaters as kids, there was no such thing as leftovers and we usually fought over who got to sit next to mom at a restaurant since that person would get what she didn't eat. We used to go to the local legion every month where they'd put on a smorg (fundraising thing plus community service. Essentially grandmas that have been cooking for years trotting out their favorite recipes to show off). First month it was 5 bucks for under twelves, we three boys had about five plates piled high apiece. Next month it was six bucks for under twelve and it kept going up. It was always funny to see the old ladies sigh and roll their eyes when they saw us coming. Then one year our appetites just died down to normal levels.

We didn't notice that until we went to my aunts place for supper. She, knowing what we could do to food, had made a turkey roasting pan and filled it to the brim with cabbage rolls thinking we'd eat at least half. We were stuffed at two apiece. And she had enough cabbage rolls left over to have it every day for the next two months.

Yeah I would starve in a country that served a lot of sea food. I do not know how people can eat shrimp, it is the grossest looking stuff ever.

The Mac and cheese recipe I make, is from my grandma.

Cook Macaroni for the least amount of time listed on the box's instruction. Rinse and drain. Put in big casserole dish, slice up half stick butter on cooked Mac. Salt and pepper, Shred a pkg of Colby cheese (not sure of the ounces but it is a half a circle) lightly mix the cheese in with the Mac, leaving enough cheese to top mac. put enough milk in to have about an inch or a little less. Put the covered Mac and cheese in pre-heated 350 degree oven for about 30 mins until cheese is melted, then uncover and cook for about 10 mins more. The cheese should all be melted and the top a slight darker cheese color, but don't burn, nothing is worse then burnt Macaroni :0P.

Pedro - my great grandfather settled in India as an English colonial.  My grandfather and his brothers were born there, but my great-grandfather saw the writing on the wall for colonials there and decided to pull up stakes and try again in Canada.

The Indian influence is still strong in my family to this day, though, and we all love our curry.

Ed Aycock: You're absolutely right. I have to stop feeling sorry about myself and start doing something with my life, while I still have a chance. Anyway, I guess every year when February 14th gets closer I get in a bad mood. And that pretty much explains the pity party, I think.

And I'm 25. I'll be 26 this year. And thanks for saying I'm smart. I appreciate that.
