Jodi: I guess if I've been obsessed about John is because it's very unlikely to find someone like him here . I live in a very conservative city, you don't get to see many gays around here. And for some reason I've never found Peruvian guys attractive (although I am Peruvian). Peter: Thank you for your words. John is basically the first gay I've met since 2004 or so. And I guess I was very excited at first, I really thought there could be a possibility and now that I've accepted the facts it's a bit sad for me. Moyer: I can get obsessed sometimes. Anyway, I talked to a couple of friends and I think a more peaceful solution would be keep things as usual for the next 3 weeks. And as soon as classes are over I'll tell John that I'm traveling somewhere and that's it, we won't see each other again .

Catholic Church tries to extort D.C. over proposed gay marriage bill. Even though the bill says they do not have to perform ceremonies for gay couples, the diocese is still threatening to move its programs out of the area which will affect thousands of people. I believe the word of the day is "petty". I try to keep an open mind regarding people's beliefs, but when hypocrisy reigns, it becomes easier and easier to move away from being religious.

Arc, I just did a cursory search of guys in "Peru" on a gay website and there were tons. Where in Peru are you? Have you looked? Just for friendship.
I thought I was the only gay in my hometown (Springfield, MA) but boy did that turn out to not be true. It's like the "Little Britain" character Daffyd.
You're in a lot of pain and it sucks.

You see, Juan, that's the rationale these nuts use, it's all your fault! I joke, of course. Ed, someone told me that some bars along Worthington St. downtown are gay bars. Then again, this guy was a jerk and was making insinuations - said how the bar was for "well, you know, the 'theater crowd'". So, me being snarky that day, I just went "Ah, sounds like a good place, I sometimes go to a bar after seeing a show." Then he tried to clarify by being even more dense. I couldn't get a straight answer (no pun intended) as to why he couldn't even say it, as if these sort of places just sprung out of nowhere and he couldn't cope.

Jodi, when will you be in the Memphis area? I am going there forThanksgiving, well really north of there, but I'll be very close.
We are going to be there the day before thanksgiving, day of , friday and leaving early Saturday. Since Chucks parents passed away we have got to get this house ready for sale. But if I don't get to see you then, where will you be in Tenn. and how often do you get there? Tenn isn't very far from us, if you go there again give me a heads up and I can maybe come down for a get together. We love spur of the moment weekend trips.

Arc I don't think you are obsessed at all, I just think you are wanting to find someone to share this time in your life with, it is what most of us want. I sure wish you were in a more openly gay friendly area, life would be such a different experience for you.
Ed right now we are planning on going 2 days before christmas because I want to get the feel of a NY christmas, carriage ride thru Central Park, ice skating in Rockefeller Plaza and seeing all the cool window displays. We will be leaving Tuesday of the following week. Again like Moyer, I know we will be there again, now that Jon-boy is there, if we don't get together then I know we'll have another chance.

This time of the year is rough for me to travel but in the spring things should be better under control for me. I'm all for a meetup then. The Addams Family broadway show is supposed to open around then, I'm going to see what I can do to make it up there for that.

Rats scurrying by on the subway tracks, crowded subway cars, the smell of pee everywhere. NYC!

And if you're lucky, which I have been three times since I moved here, you'll get to see a homeless guy taking a dump right out in the open.

Arc don't worry about talking about stuff, I hope we are able to make you feel somewhat better. I know everyone did when I was so sad about Jon leaving.
But here is a little NY story
It was funny talking about crowded subway, we rode the subway and it was really crowded, no seats. So I was standing up holding a bar and we were going really fast and the subway did what felt like a sharp turn and I fell into this well dressed black guy. If looks could have killed, I would have been dead. I felt soooo bad, but geeze you would have thought I did it on purpose.
Then a mariachi band got on and played until the next stop, when we got off Chuck laughed and said where else but NY could he see his wife attack a black guy and see a live a mariachi band, all within 10 mins.
