Maine, sucks.  But Civil Rights, let alone Human Rights, should not be on a ballot.

Because people suck?  Because fear is the emotion that drives us more than any other?  I wish I had an answer.

Because to label this as "civil rights" would mean recognizing gays as a "class" worthy of rights.  With the unbelievable amount of fear and ignorance people seem to show about gays, it's not surprising to me.  How sad and cynical I am.

No minority has every achieved this, to my knowledge at least, at the ballot box.
