Jodi...thank you for your kind words. Believe me, as the date gets closer, my memory goes back to all the moments that Vincent and i have had together...the day we met, our vacations in Buenos Aires (and how we spent 4 hours watching the "International Tango Championship"), our first anniversary (the day he suggested that we live together), our first Opera, the first dance, the day he asked, our vacations in Berlin (and how we lost $300 in the airport, ouch)...Just 2 more weeks for us to fly to MN.

BTW, great pics Jodi!

Marc...Believe me, you'll get to see that lovely frame, with the right pic on it!

Moyer...yes, we had a wonderful time!

Great pics Jodi! How long does it take to get to NY from where you live? The tile work in the various NY subway tunnels is always amazing.

Remember the guy I'm talking about ? He's driving me crazy. I always do this. I always create a fantasy and I never want to accept the facts, and the facts are that the guys I find attractive are always straight. And that's the end of the story. Today I was in class with John (that's his name) and he was  wearing a pink t-shirt and of course I spent half the class looking at him and thinking maybe he is gay. And then I realized I was getting too obsessed with him and I was creating another fantasy. John is not gay and I really should stop talking to him but he's very nice, cheerful and he makes me laugh all the time. I don't need another friend that I'm  attracted to but at the same time sitting together in class is by far the best moment of my week. I honestly don't know what to do.

Jodi:

My mother is against gay people and against homosexuality as a concept. I guess you would call her a traditional woman. It's a tough life for me, I'm sure other gays have an easier life but I'm not that lucky.

And by the way, I got your message. I don't have a Facebook account. In fact I don't do IM, I don't use Twitter and I was never into MySpace or anything like that.

Arc that is tough not being able to be who you are, around those you love.  Maybe once you get thru school and look for a career in your field, you can relocate away from your mom in a gay friendly city and build a life that brings you a chance to be more who you are. Once you are away, you can be close to your mom thru phone calls and emails, keep your relationship with her separate from your private relationships.

I understand what you are saying about not wanting to open yourself up to getting hurt by being friends with someone you are attracted to, but  if he is someone that makes you laugh and you enjoy being around, I hate seeing you cutting yourself off from someone like that. Look at him just as someone nice in your class to pass that time with. Don't look to drive yourself crazy by trying to build a lasting friendship, just enjoy the moment.

Not to make light of Arc's problems (I feel for ya buddy, things will work out for you, and I totally understand about obsessing over a guy), but Jodi, did I ever tell you that you have the BEST hair? I'd want to rub my fingers through it...

Arc,

I'm very sorry to hear that your mother feels that way. My heart goes out to you. I don't think I had a single person react negatively to my coming out process, in that I was very fortunate.

Mind you, my mom wasn't thrilled; however, she kept that mostly to herself, expressed her love and support for me and the next day after she got home from work brought me a bag of condoms (which also showed her love for me as far as I was concerned).

Like Juan I am also understandably curious as to what your dad thinks of the 'gay thing".

One of my many hopes for you Arc, is that In time your mom will realize that the unconditional love between a mother and son SHOULD trump other things.

Taavi:I'm a tutor for the foreign students at my university, so on Sunday Iwent to a "Get to know each other" party for the exchange studentsorganised by the student union. On my way home from the party I cameacross a cute French girl who wasn't sure how to get back to herapartment, so I walked her home. I think there might be some interestfrom her side as well, since although I was the one who originallybrought up the subject of exchanging phone numbers, it was her whoreminded me about it after we'd made it back to the place she's stayingat. I haven't had a date in a long time, though, so I might just beimagining things. Well, I have nothing to lose by asking her out for acup of tea.

Taavi the fact she reminded you about the phone numbers, I would say she is interested.

Well, I definitely hope you're right, Jodi. I sent her a message earlier today asking if she'd like to go out for tea or something with me this weekend. No reply yet, but she's studying forestry, so she might be in a forest somewhere outside cell phone range.
