I have a shelf on one of my bookcases devoted to comic strip collections as well (e.g. the complete Far Side, some Calvin and Hobbes books, Frazz, Get Fuzzy, Hagar the Horrible, etc.) and I do have a small bookcase in my computer area devoted to graphic novels and trade paperbacks of different comic series.  I make no apologies, they're quality reading material.

Some friends have presented me with hypothetical situations that would have me give up reading comics (e.g. having a girlfriend).  I said "no" because while I would like to be with someone, comics are a part of my life and I would not want to give up part of me to placate someone else.  That just makes it easier to lose more and more of oneself.  Of course, they thought I was just being a fanboy for saying I wouldn't give up comics for a woman.

I've cutback a lot on my buying lately and wouldn't have a problem cutting down to even fewer, but I wouldn't give them up entirely.  It'd be great if someone shared my interests but that's not a requirement.  As long as they can accept that this is part of who I am.  I'm a comic enthusiast, but not "basement-dweller" level fanboy.  Not that I foresee ever being in a relationship, but that's a topic for another day.

Kevin do you check there for the Bloom County collection?
-------------

I've got all the books.  This upcoming collection is just too purty to pass up.  If it's half as beautiful as my Complete Far Side it'll be worth it.

Arc nice drawing, it reminds me of an illustration in a book, because it makes me want to know more about what is going on in the picture.

Good luck!  What are you going to school for, what area of study will you be embarking on?

Paralegal. I've always been interested in the law, but with having a family being a lawyer wasn't an option. I can't be in school that long. So this was the next best thing.

Can I recommend, after a year or so of being a paralegal, if you like it, that you think about going to law school at night?  i know you have a family and that you want to be around them, but if it makes you happy, when you're around them you'll be happier.  I would just say don't foreclose the opportunity if its something you're interested in.
