Is it easy to be gay anywhere?

Good question. I wasn't trying to say it's hard only for me. But I like to think it might be easier in some countries...

There are an increasing number of places in the United States and around
the world where it is, if not easy, easIER to be gay. I live in the San
Francisco Bay Area of California, and find that among straight people, being
gay is hardly a blip on the social richter scale.

I find it much more difficult to be gay, or should I say the "right kind" of gay
(e.g., beautiful, built, hung, financially well off, nice clothes, cars, etc.)
among other gays.

I've never been to San Francisco but sounds like it's not a paradise... after all I'm not beautiful, built,  financially well off and I don't have a car either.

I believe that gays and lesbians have reached the point were they are almost
mainstream in the big urban centres.

No real blip on the radar except when someone comes out of the closet
whom you didn't expect to be in the closet in the first place. Lousy gaydar, I
suppose.

Myself, I don't give a shit about orientation or mannerisms. I do find brashy
muscle-for-brains jocks annoying as hell, however, regardless of what
orientation or gender they come in.

I know it sounds silly but you often find someone when you're NOT looking.
It happened to me.

Same here, Arc.  Some friends of mine offered to take up a collection and send me to Las Vegas.  Seemed funny and also sad if I had to resort to such measures.

Come on guys you can't stay down when it comes to girls/boys! Just be confident someone will come along because they WILL come along! :)

I found Eric long after I gave up on finding someone.  Didn't think I'd ever be lucky enough to fall in love.  Just gave up.

Then.... BAM!

Hoping this pic isn't too big.  Here's me and Eric on Pier 39 in San Fran yesterday:

Wonderful picture, Tom! How's the weather been out west? It's been
rather humid back here in the DC area.

When did you know that Eric was "The One"?

Lot less sunny in San Francisco than I'd been led to believe ... or is it just the
picture?

Nice picture nonetheless.
