Damn.  A sad story, well told.  Why didn't Newsweek do stories this good when I was a subscriber?

Wow.  Quite a piece. No easy answers on this one.  We (as a society) failed both Larry and Brandon.

Um... upbeat happy thread!! <-- celebrating marriage!

But since you asked, my take on coming out in middle school -- that's so early!  Says the guy who didn't come out till after college.  I'm not sure those kids are seeing a sexuality as much as a lifestyle, which again bothers me that homosexuals are connected -- or connect themselves -- with feminine behaviors.  He didn't seem to be making any sexual choices to me, just a desire to act like the girls.

That's my take -- of course, I'm a guy... who likes GUYS.  Not girlie boys...

It's a shame gay people have to "come out".  I knew I was straight in second grade.  Also I knew I was into redheads.  I didn't have to tell anyone.  And my track record leads me to think no one cared :(

Y'know that was my thought too after I posted my response.  It may deserve its own thread if there is interest in discussing the case.  I for one think this thread is about, and should remain about, the happiness and joy Tom and Eric have found in each other and their mutual commitment made by each of them to be the other's world.  So back to happy talk!

Tom,

I like you very much.  You KNOW I do.  However, I found your last post HIGHLY offensive.

Agreed. It's kinda sad that so many people care about the one thing (in a negative sense) and so few care about the other (in a positive sense).

I didn't mean to "harsh the thread's mellow", guys.  My apologies.  It just didn't seem a topic worthy of its own thread, and so I put it here.
