(Dore Alley, okay, and your butt too).

My butt's all over the internet!  Just google it.

Remember a couple weeks ago I said I was having a meeting with the producer who commissioned my embarrassingly successful musical, SING-ALONG SANTA?  Well, he threw a couple concepts my way to "think about" and see if anything sang to me.  One did.

So we had a phone meeting this morning where I tossed back the treatment I thought would work, AND HE TOTALLY BOUGHT IT!  He thought it was as funny as I did -- which is hard to get out of producers sometimes, where sense of humor can be a challenge.

Looks like we're working together.  I have to come up with a plot next and that's sort of what I'm thinking about right now.  And who thought there'd be life after AESOP?

Don't feel bad, David.  My mom likens me posing to resemble someone being booked at the local precinct.

Congratulations, Tom.  Let us know how things progress.  Maybe we can get a group to go and see the production.  Glad you are able to have a creative outlet.

I was squinting because it was sunny and my brother caught me off guard
(I'd asked him to take it with my iphone but he didn't tell me when he was
pushing the button lol). There are a few pics from later that night when I
look quite... merry :-)

Tom, is this kid-friendly? Beaucoup bucks to be made in the Xmas trade!

One of the things I'm very good at writing is all-ages humor (remember the MUPPET SHOW? -- think along those lines).  When I was approached about S-A-S, the producers had already named it and were booking it.  They had a rough concept, but no idea how to execute it.

The first thing I did was remove all religious references.  Who was this about, I asked them, Santa or Jesus?

So I ended up writing this very secular show about Xmas -- well, really about Santa Claus, but there's just as much secular music for the holidays as there is religious.*

It played in 30 cities in the US, then played TWO YEARS in Korea!  The Koreans LOVED it -- figure that shit out.

*Example: I wrote this bit where the Three Tenors came out (three folks in wonderful fat suits) and sang "The Chipmunk Song"  ("Gee, I want a hula-hoop!").  During the instrumental break in the middle, a girl enters with a breath spritzer, clearly labeled "Alum" and sprays each of them in the mouth before exiting.  When the Tenors sing again, they sound like the Chipmunks.  Brilliant humor!!!!!

Well, the producers HATED that bit, and fought me the whole way (the only reason it stayed in the show at all was because the costumes had already been constructed) until it stopped the Second Act cold every night from the laughter.  Then, I was a genius.

It must be great to see your work being played out Tom. Good luck with the
latest one.

You have to get this out to the plebs, Tom. The old saying, ya know -- "will it play in Peoria?" This sounds like it surely would.
