Pedro: extremes are not good, but if I had to choose between very fat and very thin I'd go with the latter. I'm remembering a medieval philosopher that had an explanation of why it was better to be thinner.

This is the second gay marriage for this thread.
These things come in threes. I predict Moyer within the year, looking resplendent in white.

I've been trying to lose weight for the last six months (eating so many carrots, might as well be called Bugs) but it's not working very well. Well, I'm not working very well. The problem is being on a swing shift, which changes from days to afternoons to midnights on a 3 week rotation, just screws with my mind and body. On midnights I eat a small dinner right after I wake up (around 6 pm), then a snack on my way to work (usually carrots, but sometimes I'm really hungry and I'll eat another full meal), then a snack (carrots) at one and then another full meal at 3. And another snack if my energy starts to wane. And that snack will be something to jumpstart me (chocolate, peanuts, chips) just quick energy.
That's bad enough, but afternoons are worse, I end up eating three big meals and a snack, and the last meal is when I get home so it's only a couple of hours before I go to bed.
I was able to lose all the weight (and was down from 250 to 210) when I had a straight shift but the swing shift just threw me for a loop and I can't figure out a way to make it work for me, yet. I'll get there though.
Oh, and since I'm 6'2 with a broad frame and a fair amount of muscle at 210 I looked really thin.
I don't like being photographed right now, I'll admit that but other than that I don't really let it affect me too much.

I'm not sure. Would Moyer really be allowed white? Traditionally speaking? ;)

Steve, I feel you, man. I spend most of my summer trying to get rid of the excess bulk I put on during the school year. It's hard to resist those Disney-eyed kids and their birthday cupcakes, you know?
Trying something different this summer in that I'm staying away from the scale. Going completely aesthetic rather than be driven by numbers. Already some great veins starting to appear and even Eric noticed the difference in my abs. Six weeks to go.
Of course, I'm riding my bike everywhere in the city -- that makes a huge difference, upping my cardio by 50% over the school year. Also, I'm eating "clean" -- which is WICKED hard! Fresh everything! -- but hopefully worth it.
I don't think I'll ever have the abs I had when I was a skinny high school runner, but... why would I want that? I'm obsessed, but not THAT obsessed!

Congrats Juan.
In related news, the Irish government has published the Civil Partnership Bill to come into force towards at the end of the year. Not full marriage but a step in the right direction. So you never now. The bells could ring again...

Are carrots really the best snack to be eating? I mean they are good and
all, but aren't they really loaded with sugar? You should amp up your
snack with something more substantial, like a lean protein bar, or wheat
toast with low-fat peanut butter, or natural peanut butter (less sugar).
The new Atkins bars are awesome. Way better than a few years ago when
they were like cardboard.

Oh hell no! Guys, honestly speaking, I'm about done with my relationship.
I hate even talking like that, but I'm just not in a good place with my
partner. There's a lot of love there, but I'm at the point where I have given
up my dreams and desires to satisfy his life, and it's just not working. I'm
in my mid 30s and I feel like I'm living the life of a 50 year old. He's so
settled, and we don't do anything. We don't go out. We live with his
mother who can be very difficult to live with, and I'm so sick of New
Orleans it's ridiculous. I miss San Diego so much I cry about once a week
over it. That's how bad it is. My sister is there with her family, and I've
missed out on so much of my nieces lives it's scary. I just miss fun.

Tom, I'm trying to make headway in my own "battle of the bulge" and a friend of mine recommended that I lift weights first and then do cardio for maximum benefit and burning off the fat. Is that a reliable way?

So what the fuck is going on here? A gay bar in Houston raided, now this.
Was pepper spray really necessary?

Moyer have you talked about it to your partner, is he unwilling to change?
I think it is so sweet you are wanting to spend time with your nieces BTW.
