Al said: Maybe I should just have a bromance with you. You know, so long as you
don't mind that I'm going to get all weepy when you talk about your kids
and your granddaughter... I'm a big emotional sap when it comes to that
whole side of things.
Well we will just have to be a big soppy mess together, I too am a softy, I weep at movies, books, and the occasional well told story...and if it's about family...forget about it, I am hopeless.
All that said, I would be proud to be in a Bromance with you, always admired your quick wit, and your tendency to use said wit to deflate tense moment in threads other than this love fest. That Michael Caine connection is odd huh?

Now you have me laughing out loud, Don.
I love you, man.
(Micheal Caine and Humphrey Bogart are my favourite actor and my
favourite movie star, respectively. I just finished Stephen Bogart's
excellent biography of his father, and just before that read Caine's
excellent "What's It All About". The stories he told and his whole outlook
on life in that book were what had me thinking about how I'd like to hang
with him. Him and his bud, Connery, that is. Gotta hang with both of
them.
So why mention Bogie here? Let's see who is the first who knows the
connection Michael Caine has to Humphrey Bogart...)

"May you have children that act exactly like you!"
My parents had a similar saying. "You get the kids you deserve," was what they'd mutter and mumble when we did something outrageously crazy.

That's only half of it, Keith: what's the Bogie connection?
(Someday we'll find it
The Bogie connection
The lovers, the dreamers, and me...)

connection?
I wanted to give everyone a hint, but OK Caine is from
Bogart's film "The Caine Mutiny"

Al, I've always considered Caine a very talented actor.

When I was a kid I didn't like Michael Caine because it
seemed he was in everything I was like "I'm so sick
of this guy" (plus the characters were kinda unlikeable,
the Hand, and Blame it on Rio) It wasn't until I saw,
ironically, an interview with Ozzy Osbourne and he went on
about how he was his favorite actor because he was the
first British actor who sounded like your average guy with
his accent that I appreciated him. And he does a real nice
tribute to Cary Grant on TCM, I figure if Cary Grant hung
out with him he must be alright.

Yeah, when Maurice Joseph Micklewhite embarked on his career as an actor
he decided he needed a different name...
He saw "The Caine Mutiny" on a movie marquee, and stole it. Michael was a
family name, iir...
