Jodi,

Has your aunt every confirmed that there are in fact people who would
rather children stay IN foster care than be with loving parents who happen
to be gay?

Marc sad to say I don't even think being gay comes in to play in the decision, because Marion Indiana is such a bible beating backwoods little town that any body who is gay, moves away to an area that has more to offer. In Marion getting a Walmart is a really big deal.

But I would guess there are people that would rather see some kid stay in foster care then be adopted by a loving gay couple. We were talking about Chaz Bono at dinner tonight and my dad said there was a guy he worked with, at the local factory and he came to work wearing a James Dean shirt. Some guys started giving him a hard time because they had heard Dean was gay. My dad couldn't believe the dumbass was so offended, he tore the shirt off, threw it in the trash and lost a days pay because they told him he couldn't stay at work shirtless.

Marc I just know from what she says there is a real shortage for good foster parents and some that they do have, aren't the best. I find it so sad if there are loving couples willing to open their homes to a child in need, some peoples bigotry keeps it from happening.

Jodi,

Thanks for the insight. I wasn't doubting your original post for a second. I
just wondered if some people she has encountered were actually gutsy
enough to actually say such garbage.

if you could have a bromance with any male celebrity (non-sports figure) whom would you choose/find yourself drawn to?

Thats a tough question Marc!  Professionally, I'd love to know James Baker -- he think his absolutely brilliant and incredibly talented, but I think that would be (ideally) a mentoring relationship and not a "bromance."  Likewise I am HUGE Springsteen fan, and I love the opportunity to play guitar with him.  But right now I can't think of anyone really famous I'd want a bromance with.  I have two best friends, my wife and my brother from another mother, Greg.  So anyone I'd have a bromance with would have to be like Greg and at this point so much of our "bromance" is our shared history.

There are a lot of "famous" (and non-famous) people that I'd like to share a beer with and chat and maybe even be friends with but a bromance is, to me at least, is a level above friendship.  Its very much a brotherhood.  Its like, I'd love to have sex with Charlize Theron, but I don't want to be married to anyone other than Kelly.  Do you know what I mean?

Marc I am afraid where I grew up there are plenty of people that would fit into the "gutsy" category. Sad thing is, in towns like Marion, saying things like being against someone just because they are gay, is all too commonplace.

Edited to add: Does anyone on here have any big summer plans?

Laughing out loud is always good, Al.  It's said prolong your life, and I'm sticking with that mythology for certain.  :)

Also, the idea of parenting, and having to know where and what your child is doing 24/7 absolutely terrifies me."

A view I can fully sympathise with.  I've always been kid friendly and I love playing with friends' kids when opportunities are given.  But is IS somewhat nice to be able to hand them back.
I think, at least partially, that the responsibility bit scares the bejeezus out of me.  Not to mention my being a fan of the possibility to sleep in (and not having that mean 7 a.m.).

Christian Bale. Easily.  With Jonathan Rhys Meyers a clear second.  Both having been helped along by their participation in Velvet Goldmine, to be sure.

Wow, busy weekend for ya'll! I need to check in more often.

How many of our gay members in this thread wish they could be
fathers?

Nuh-uh! I have absolutely no desire to pass on my neurosis to a kid.
After hearing the hours upon hours of the things my bosses girls, and
our photographers boys put them through, I get my fill right there.

My bosses oldest girl is 19, and just failed two, TWO semesters of college.
She wasted $10,000 of my bosses hard, very hard-earned money. She's
involved with a Mall Cop, who makes Kevin James look thin, who is four
years older than her (dating her since she was in high school), failed the
psychological test for the police force, so he was delegated to a desk job,
and was fired from that within months for sleeping at his desk.

Our photographers boys are in their 20s and roll all over him. Of course
he lets them, but, he was paying for one boy to go to med school at LSU.
Comes to find out a couple months ago, when the boy was pulled over,
and arrested for carrying pot (which wasnt an issue...the dad smokes too)
that the boy hasn't been going to school for a year, while the dad has
paid for it!!!

So after hearing that, it's enough. There are good kids out there, I know
that. My sister's kids are growing up to be outstanding adults, with
mostly straight A's and shoulder so much responsibility. Jodi's oldest
sounds like he is going to be the next big thing in Hollywood. But I'm just
too selfish, and gods, the costs of raising kids now, I don't know how
ANY parent really does it anymore.

To be fair Moyer I am pretty biased  (understandment of the year)

Jonathan's humor is his downfall, I didn't tell you guys he got rejected to "Who's wants to be a Millionaire" the first time he tried out. They asked in the Movie trivia test time if anyone did impressions of movie stars, no one raised their hand but Jon, he said he does an impression of David Carradine and procceed to act like he hung himself. He was boo'd by half the group and the other half he said looked at him like he was a dumbass.
