I thought it was maybe because we're almost at 300 pages and it looks like we'll hit that by Tuesday (Hence Al and Joakim helping to make it happen) but unless everybody gets presented with free ice cream because of it, I don't see that as the payoff.

And with page 300 there must also come a big... party. Right?

I think we all need to post pictures of ourselves in full Spartan warrior gear for page 300. Now if you'll excuse me I need to go do infinite situps.

They completely suck, my sister in law in Florida says they are a way of life down there. We are dealing with centipedes they can run about 2 1/2 inches long and are amazingly fast.

I support the wearing of full spartan gear for you guys on here, with pictures posted on page 300.

Arc they completely freak me out and they would be perfect creepy crawlies for a nightmare.

I must be a luck guy, Jodi, because the only thing I ever get to see in my house are small spiders and a few ants, and that's in summer.

Can't do "water bugs" at all -- and yet mice don't bother me in the least.
(I still kills 'em, though.)

I know what you are saying Tom, mice no problem, the feral cat that lives in our neighborhood caught one, one day and I got it away from him. The cat is well feed, but of course it still loves killing things. It keeps killing the chipmunks and birds, so yesterday I caught it and put a bell around it's neck.
Not much in the way of animals creep me out and I have overcome my fear of spiders, but I still don't know how I would react if one got on me. The only thing I can not get over, is my fear of roller coasters, which is completely off topic BTW .
Tom I have to say, I am pretty excited for Tuesday to get here.

Count me as a fellow creature of the night, Jodi. Which is why sometimes Americans and Canadians on line get surprised at my presence on FB at certain times... once they account for the time difference that is. At the moment, my circadian rhythm seems far more aligned to North America than Scandinavia.

If Tom could predict the flow of postings that accurately and even bring it up (albeit cryptically), I'd say he's worthy of becoming our very own Hari Seldon. As it is though, my deductive reasoning tells me it's got something to do with the possible writing gig he mentioned a few pages or so ago.
Though as to how Al and myself are related to that beats me...

You want us to be basically buck naked? No amount of situps is going to save that event from being horrific, methinks. Though I'm sure some of our more fit members could carry it off with splendour.
Could I paint myself blue like the Celts though? They also favoured little fighting clothing, and at least then I could pretend my less shapely bod was the result of a warp spasm.

As a resisident musophobic, I just HAVE to say... Mice are just minature rats, and neither are favoured by me. Though admittedly rats are worse. *shudder*
Also have a nice case of acrophobia, but I think that's fairly sound. And it's not so much that I fear the height or even the potential fall so much as the inevitable landing from a great distance.

So I went to the DC Pride street fair yesterday -- unfortunately, it wasn't hot enough to justify taking off my shirt. Some did, but to me it just didn't seem worth it. A positive: I was amazed at all the gay groups that exist in Washington -- although the gay men's chorus still turns me off, and I love to sing!
I'm feeling a lot of anger right now over this DOMA-thing and I was hoping to find that same reaction in the community. But it didn't seem to me like anyone was fired up, I don't know.
We did a couple laps -- it was bigger than last year (more gay sub-groups) -- drank a delicious fresh lemonade and headed home. "You think we can skip Pride next year?" Eric asked.

No, but good guess!
I'm about to hit the shower before heading up to that lunch -- a "pitch-meeting" to phrase a coin. I wrote a show for these guys in 2002 that did a thirty-city tour and then played two years in Korea (of all places!).
I'm hoping it will parlay into a long-term gig. It would be a really cool thing if I could say I made my living as a writer.
