Geoff I have been feeling the same, I think this is a really crap period in our country and for some reason, this week, has been really blue. Between the economy and the swine flu announcement , not sure which one to get most nervous about. Also I just read an article that the kids graduating college this year, will be the first generation that will not do better then their parents. Sucks when we just got one thru college.

Also Palins back in the news and that always puts me in a funk.

Gee Ed aren't you glad you asked. :0)

I promise to be less depressing next post.

I wish there'd be a moratorium on news about both Sarah Palin and Carrie Prejean.

This week I became a conformist and joined Facebook.  Not quite sure why, maybe going to my friend's wedding and being the only single guy among my friends did it, dunno.

Work has been infuriating, but what else is new?

Good mood. I'm taking next week off just because I want a week off. That and some serious life changing stuff. More later...

I hear you on the Gay Pride parades Ed. I avoided the one in NY, when I was
out there for Pride in '02. My friends went, and when I saw the pics I was
like "yawn".

I feel like it's more of a "pay attention to me and my hot body and shiny go
go shorts" parade than anything. Not only that, but lord, I live in New
Orleans. If I see one more f'n parade I'm going to throw up!

I will probably be going to NY Pride this year because a friend of mine who never gets to go will be able to this year.  I don't know how much of it I'll endure before I head home.  After the continuing madness of DOMA and DADT, the whole false plastic cheer isn't what I wanna see.  I want to see action, not Absolut floats.

I will say, my very first Pride ever, the Northampton, MA Pride which is held in May to get all the students from UMASS, Amherst, Smith, Mount Holyoke and Hampshire colleges, is one of my fondest memories of Pride ever.  When you're just coming out and going to Pride, it can be magical.

Sigh - that was 17 years ago for me.

Coming out turned out to not be such a big deal for me.

Here in Lisbon pride is divided in two main events: The march or parade is more of a political thing and not many people attend; and then there's the Arraial pride (arraiais are typical popular saint parties in the largest cities in Portugal, like Saint Anthony in Lisbon, St. Peter in the Algarve and St John in Porto). The arraial has a lot more people and tends to be great fun. It's usually a cool time to meet friends you haven't seen in ages - or since the previous year, at least.

This year the Pride march and Arraial will be in two different saturdays. I'll be going to both because next legislature the socialist party is going to try to push for same-sex marriage and the more people show they're for it the more chance we'll have of it being made into law. I'll post some photos like two years ago ;)
