Bummer on the French guy Arc... bigger fish in the sea! I'm reading
a...book... I was trying to have an adjective with it. I guess "weird" would
be the closest thing I could come up with.

It's called Farm Boys and is short true life autobiographies of gay
males growing up on farms. I'm only a couple chapters into it, and the
accounts by these guys, one who was born in 1909 are just so weird! Very
abusive upbringings. Incest. Carnies. Beastiality. A lot of these guys came
of age in an age where homosexuality was outright illegal and could get
you killed, so it's not surprising what they had to deal with. It's an
entertaining book, but be prepared for some weird stuff.

I know we still have a long way to go for true equality, but our reality now
is quantum leaps better than what these guys had to go through.

Brian,

As always... SO SO SO CUTE!  I know I have asked you this question once before, but I've been going through one of those elongated "low" periods and wouldn't mind being cheered up by your answer again: what kind of impact/joy/etc. has having the little guy in your life done for you?

I doubt I will ever be a dad or grandpa, so it's kind of nice to hear from others sometimes.

Peter Svensson, Geoff Gibson, Jodi Moisan, Joakim Jahlmar and Moyer Hall: Thank you guys, I appreciate your words. I know this stuff shouldn't affect me at all, but since I haven't really been with anyone for the past 6 years I tend to get frustrated easily. Sometimes I think that instead of spending money in over 3 years of therapy (which wasn't cheap) I should have spent in some plastic surgery or something. Might have made things easier for me.

Arc I believe there are people in the world that are our perfect matches, (and I don't believe there is just one), you just have not found one yet. From what I know about you here, you are a warm, funny, intellegent, kind person. I really like you and I have not seen you. Don't give in to self doubt, you will one day find someone with love to give, you have a loving heart, keep open to those you meet. Also remember to love yourself, you are a good guy.

Agreed.  And remember loving yourself is good for the prostate.

********

Marc, here's a story for you. I recently was at the playground with my two-year-old son. A little girl about the same age apparently wandered a bit too close to me. So my son ran in front of her, hugged me tight around the leg and said, "That not your Da-Da!" I have to say, I almost floated home.

And please keep in mind that your "low period" is just that - a period that will end.

Same applies too you, Arc. Like Jodi said, don't get down on yourself and keep a positive, open mind about meeting people.

Arc, and Marc and anyone else who needs a reminder...

Jodi (as Moms are wont to do) speaks with great wisdom about not giving into the demons of doubt.

I will take it a step further and remind you that while you are not currently sharing your life and love with another, you can spend more on yourself...Live for self, love yourself, and find your bliss...There is simply nothing on this earth sexier than someone who is happy with themselves and sure of their own course....

Don

Let's give it up for New Hampshire - another state moving towards progress.

The Puritans, who settled parts of New England, must be spinning in their graves; or at least on the spits in H-E-double hockesticks. :-P

Jodi Moisan: Thank you, I guess you're right. Anyway, it's not like I'm depressed now. Just a bit vulnerable, maybe.

Al Cook and Donal Miller: Thanks guys, perhaps I needed to be cheered up and you accomplished it.
