I'm absolutely convinced that's the case. They don't know anyone "that
way" and can't put a human face to someone who is otherwise a pretty
normal person.

I'm more interested in the reverse. Washington DC (where I live) has a pretty vibrant gay population. Most of the politicians who continue to spout nonsense about the "sanctity of marriage" and "family values" know, work with, and socialize with out-in-the-open gay people all the time.
If being gay is really such a threat to our society, why don't these knuckleheads have the courage to really wear their bigotry on their sleeves and refuse to associate with gays? This "love the sinner, hate the sin" nonsense is just a way for people to avoid thinking about how foolish and hateful their philosophy really is.

Oh, I'd just be scared who'd be in control of the licensing, Marc.

Well, fish-vegetarian as I am, no more bacon for me. But it certainly was the one type of meat I could feel cravings for when giving up on meat. So I'm really happy now that we've got a nice smoky veggie substitute available here in Sweden. Now, you may say it doesn't taste quite the same (and you'd probably be right), but to my mind it hits the mark near enough to get this li'l Swede happy.

even worth it.

Chris, thank you for sayinig that -- I completely agree! DC is a really weird town in that regard. So many closeted gays in governmental offices, the military, and big business around here. I sometimes think, "It can't be like that everywhere!" It amazes me how many people hide themselves.
No wonder all the instances of toilet stall crimes and people in positions of power wrapped up in sex scandals! Repression!

Like most gays, I'm a Griffin fan. I don't purposefully set out to watch her show, but all one has to do is turn on BRAVO any weekend and you can't miss her. It's practically her network.
Haven't seen the "bear" episode yet, but have seen the Australia one -- VERY funny stuff.

You know the problem with your (ex)guy? He was cute, unlike most of the ancient congressional staff caught in DC. Also, your boy had a consistant lover -- cute himself -- not some prostitute/crystal addict floating around the toilets here in our nation's capital.

No, the "39 years old" crisis exists -- the one where you worry worry worry about turning forty. Then the day comes and it's just like any other. In terms of happiness, my forties have been great, better than my thirties, which were better than my twenties...
Don't be a victim of gay culture, Juan! Youth passes quickly -- let it. Those guys who try to pretend they're young... well, they're not MEN, you know? Nothing sadder than a pretty boy still trying to hang on to fantasy...
It drives me crazy how the gay culture clings to the idea of youth. What's so great about being young?
