Brian there are some photo sites that have photo contests, I don't think you actually win anything but it is still cool to win. My sister is a weekend photography and she loves those sites because she gets encouraged to take more. I know you love to take pictures, have you ever thought about joining one? Because your stuff is really good. I would enter the Lions picture, it is really good.

I like to think I know what's going on in the world, but I have to say, the Bear thing is something I just never knew about. Why is it gay guys are so organized though, we women just meander through the dating process, but hell you guys have big events with like minded people. We women approach dating in a roll the dice kind of way. "Gee I hope a great guy is at this party"

It is a great documentary, you really feel for Steve Wiebe, he is such a nice guy. I have watched it a few times and it is one I will most likely watch again.

Well the gays still dont have a "shaved heads, beefy muscular builds, with
some tatoos" events that I am craving. Sure there is IML (International Male
Leather) but I'm not really into the leather thing.

I would also recommend King of Kong but would caution that you should watch the special features as well. The 'evil' guy isn't nearly that bad and they used a lot of narrative tricks to frame the story they wanted to tell. Good movie without that but unfair. Great movie with that extra information.

Women disorganized about meeting men? I don't know, there is speed dating and stuff like that, dating sites, singles bars. I think the main problem is not with women meeting interested guys, but in women being interested in the guys they do meet.

Though I do have to say I hate how it's done today and was starting to be done when I was in my early twenties: there were no real dates, just friends getting together, you couldn't just go up and introduce yourself, you had to be part of their circle first, and you almost ended up dating all of their friends at the same time and if you happened not to like their friends there wasn't much you could do about it. No privacy, no real one on one interaction (for the first while) and if you didn't have a wide circle of friends you were completely out of luck. Made it tough to be a geek with a small circle (by choice, friendships take effort and while I liked a lot of people I didn't have the time to invest in the relationships) and I think it's become even harder now.

Back then I was pretty good looking so I'd get hit on every now and then, or be able to attract some girl's eyes in the bar and talk to them which made up for my lack of contacts but my younger friends tell me that kind of stuff has become much more rare.

Okay, you've sold me! I just added King of Kong to my Netflix queue.

I enjoy documentaries about people who take hobbies to the extreme. Trekkies is the obvious example (and it's a really funny movie, although I think it fostered the stereotype that all Star Trek fans are socially dysfunctional geeks.)

But a couple of other good ones are Hands on a Hard Body and the recent HBO documentary Dirty Driving: Thundercars of Indiana. The former is about people who take part in one of those promotional contests where the person who can keep their hand on a truck the longest gets to keep the truck. Some of those characters are just priceless.

Dirty Driving is about (very) small-time auto racing in small-town Indiana. The town has been devastated by the downturn in the auto industry, which once was the one big employer in town. People there are incredibly passionate about the local dirt track racing and the feuds that result. Both documentaries are highly recommended (at least by me) and are available on DVD.

I agree Steve dating is so different now. Word use has changed now too, Jonathan got really upset one time when I said that he and this girl he knows should hook up sometime. Well needless to say hook up for me meant just get back in touch, to his age it means have sex.

Jodi, goof thing you didn't say "make love" which in the 40s and 50s., didn't have such a strong connotation.
