Well, I figured you'd had it (since mostly we seem to have had your stuff, though not necessarily all of it... with exceptions of course). I've discovered over time though that it can sometimes (somewhat interestingly) develop into a game of "you say potato, I say ice-cream cone." Case in point being, GI Joe = Action Force. Took me a while to peg that GI Joe (at least the 80s onwards stuff) was material I did encounter as a kid, though under the name of Action Force. The fact that that name is in English, of course, never made me look for a translation, since the easy assumption is that that's what they're called in all English speaking places. The mind boggles.
Really loved my Playmobile though. That and LEGO had me develop a theory of tricking fate and chance as a wee kid. Because whenever you were looking for a particular piece or gadget (in the vast stocks I had lying about on the floor while playing) you never seemed to find it. My young mind deduced that if I therefore "gave up" and started looking for some other piece or gadget the hunt was on more fairly. And from my youthful empirical trials, it did SEEM to work.

That's one of the things I've a hard time understanding really. Even as a kid I tended to be really careful with my things and I still tend to be. I simply don't like to break the spines of books or fold comics or whatever, and while I didn't engage in bagging comics as a kid, I think most of my old stuff that I didn't trade or sell at some point (or that remain in my current collection, as it were) are still in my parents attic. It's true that it IS all about the reading. But multiple readings need not result in tatters, is probably my point. And the better kept the material the greater the chance of more multiple readings.

It has only taken me 8 months to own it. But I JUST DON"T FEEL FIFTY!!!!!!!ARGH!!!!!!!!!" If it's any consolation, Jodi, you don't look it either. And we like you just the same. Besides, since women tend to live longer than men, you've got a bit of an advantage anyway. ;)
And I'm not that into warmth what with it tending to turn me into a liquid form. Used to like beaches quite a bit though in the sense of being in the water. NEVER understood the lying in the sun bit. As a kid I was always frustrated when my friends wanted to head up out of the water and lie tanning for a bit. I was all, "but hey, we were swimming and playing in the water now, having fun, where are you lot going?"

I thought you were in your early 40s Jodi -- and only because I knew your
oldest, Jon, was in his early 20's. I assumed that you were a child bride
based on the way you looked.

Could you guys be any nicer, I don't think so. You guys are again proving why I love this place. It's funny getting older I think is a lot about attitude and how you look at life. I think too it helps to have young looking genes, I have a great aunt that I swear could have passed for 30 years younger. But then again it could be like my brother says, "you look young because you act 12." I try to deny it as I work on my comic book themed my pretty ponies. :0)
What is everyone doing this weekend or another question with summer upon us, do you have any big summer plans?

I'm leaving in about 10 minutes to see "Up". Calleigh informed me yesterday that I was taking her to see it. Who am I to argue?

See? The greatest thing about having a kid is you can walk into a "kid's" movie and not feel weird.

When I told Jodi I was 40 and she commented on how young I was, I
was floored. It thought I was at least four years older than her...

This weekend is a nothing weekend. I'd see "UP" but going to the movies in NYC is such a major pain in the ass that requires you get a ticket and seat about 45 minutes ahead of time. I'll wait for the weekday.

Why is Peruvian chicken so good? What's the secret? _____________________
I think the real question should be... do you like it too? If you go to New York don't forget to visit Pardo's Chicken (the most succesful chicken franchise here) in 92 7th Ave South. And if you go to San Francisco there is a wonderful Peruvian sea food restaurant.

Arc, I'm in New York and in fact, Pardo's was by my job and I walked by it every day for years on my way to work in the morning. Never went, though. The problem with working in the Village is that I wanted to get out of the Village as quickly as possible at night.

Arc,
First, welcome. Second, I have to ask, is Arc short for something?

If it's a movie I want to see, I ain't gonna feel weird regardless. Sadly I don't get to the cinema so often these days (more watching DVDs at home) and I also have the disadvantage of a lot of the kid films I want to see either only go up dubbed to Swedish or if they go up both subtitled and dubbed have the subtitled version go down way too fast. So, not as often as I'd like, but shameless and without feeling weird when I go!
Edited because "wothout" isn't a word, to my knowledge, whereas "without" is.
