Byrne did such a great work with the title and now it is all out of continuity.

That doesn't matter.  I grew up on the Wayne Boring Superman, the Curt Swan Superman.  Byrne's Superman is MY Superman.  Those short two years had a huge impact on me (as well as the character).  It was an exciting time to read those titles.

I know. I can always re read those issues but I haven't bought a Superman comic in years. I did buy those Action Comics issues Byrne did in 2005, 2006.

And who can forget the issue of JB's Superman when he woke up in a tent in his UNDERWEAR!  Oh, I loved that.

But as for JB overall, I've said it before, he has made any character interesting for me.  When I heard he was leaving "Alpha Flight" for the Hulk, I was bummed because I didn't like the Hulk.  Damned if he didn't win me over.

Same with Namor, a character I never had any use for before.  And JB's Namor was also pretty hot - something I'd never felt about him before.

The Wonder Woman dream sequence? Now that was extraordinary.

And you're right Ed, Byrne always had the ability to make the characters really interesting. Before his run, I wasn't a Superman fan, I had read some stories but the Man of Steel was nowhere to be seen among my list of favorites.

For the most part, Superman seems to be one of the characters who has suffered the least in recent years. Continuity issues aside, he still acts like a hero. I can pick up a Superman comic and recognize the character.

In terms of recent Superman stuff, I'd second Mr. Gibson's recommendation of Geoff Johns run. Very good stuff that a long-time fan would like.

Don I loved you could remember the sat morning line up. My brother and I took turns with the TV I got the even hours, he got the half hours, I was a giant Dark Shadows fan and it came on every day at 4:00. Man I would run home when I knew it was getting time for it to start. I had a BIG crush on Jonathan Frid.  Funny thing when something was an hour long we would have to beg each other to use their time, our big thing was we would be each others slave for an hour, my brother would have me get him glass after glass of half filled water.

I got my comics at the little family owned local market, my mom knew them really well and they kept certain comics for us, my brother and I each got to pick out one and we would sit on the floor reading them while my mom shopped. Best time was in the fall because we would also get a carmel apple.

I wonder if kids today will look back on their childhoods with the same fondness as we are. I realize not every kid sits inside playing video games but it just seems so much of the innocence is gone. It makes me sad.

Cool show!  I used to have the board game, too.  :-)
