That's a slap in the face to the other contestants and to the winner.  Maybe she had other faults as well (despite being hetero, I have zero interest in beauty pageants so I didn't watch it).

Though, when you think about it, she is an accurate representation of her state since the majority voted against gay marriage.  Who would have thought that California would be more conservative than Iowa?

Latest news- New Hampshire House and Senate have passed it, awaiting the governor.

The Maine Senate just passed it, awaiting the House vote and then the governor.

C'mon New England.

Hang in there, Ed. Unemployment isn't fun - but it is temporary. And it may lead to new opportunities.

Probably the best things you can do are to stay active and stay positive. Easier said than done, I know, but it can help.

And we're supposed to think that she's a martyr because SHE says that she would have won if not for that answer?

Sounds more like the definition of "poor loser" that I was taught as a child. But I'm old and the rules may have changed...

Who would have thought that California would be more conservative than Iowa?

I wouldn't hold to that theory too strongly. Its been suggested that it was confusing wording on the ballot that led to the vote going the way it did. I've never seen how it was written myself, but it sounds like a more reasonable explanation.
Has anyone seen this, and is there a link?

Hang in there JJCA.
If it gets too boring, you can always come North. Looks like the border's going to stay open, so you can come to Houston and have a Swine Flu Panic Party with the rest of us!
My store is in total freak-out mode. Everyone is using hand sanitizer every hour on the hour. Its completely ridiculous. But I guess it doesn't hurt.

Confusing wording may have been part of it, however, I believe that a lot of the voting...(Record numbers if I recall) was promoted through community churches...and although they may have supported Obama, most of them look unfavorably on Gay Marriage.

While she has a right to her opinion, it's getting tiresome that she's being portrayed as someone who had a grave injustice done to her.

------------------------

Wonder if a contestant had said blacks couldn't marry blacks or blind people couldn't marry anyone if people would say she was entitled to her opinion. Sure, she's entitled to her opinion, just like racists are entitled to their opinion and neonazis are entitled to their opinion. It doesn't make it right and if every other girl in the pageant was being evaluated on their answer she sure as hell should expect the same!

I didn't even find her answer offensive. She *is* entitled to her opinion. What i found offensive was the cheers it got from the audience.

Besides, her answer wasn't even accurate!

Hand Sanitizers destroy my hands... I wash them probably too much as well.
My boss NEVER washes his hands, and never gets sick. Even right before we
eat lunch. I don't wash mine once and I get a cold..ugh!

It's bewildering how some of those that are opposed to gay marriage say they are not bigots.  How is denying rights to a group acceptable?  When someone said to me they didn't think the court should have decided, I asked if they were against Brown vs The Board of Education since that was a Supreme Court decision and not something voted on by the people.  Then they turn it around that I'm trying to portray them as a racist.

That's why I'm a misanthrope, I hate everyone equally. :-P
