Catching up and then some...

Bruce and Joakim; I loved the entire Alvin Maker series so far (I'm looking forward to him finally writing the last book),”

Well, I’ll start there then, with my dearie’s books (and then if I like it convince her that she needs the rest of the series), and if I like that might try the first Ender’s Game book but stop at that.

Excellent link, Ed.  I fixed it in my quote above.”

I can only agree with Kevin, Ed.  Excellent!
(Didn’t fix no link though, since Kevin already had.)

Michael Roberts (to Ed):
To make a link from Firefox, you enter the text you want to serve as the link in the reply box, highlight it, click on the insert link button, and enter the URL in the dialog box.”

Or just type url and /url respectively within brackets [  ], one before the link and one after, and that should work too (normally how I do it).

Family Photo (almost...).  Here we are Sunday Morning at the cabin (Note coffee cup in my hand...)

Love that photo (as I already said on FB, I think), but I do miss Stash on it.  Would’ve been THE perfect family pic if he’d been in it.

Jodi Moisan is a supremely awesome human being.

Love her lots.

Thanks! You can carry on again with whatever we were talking about...

Well, I’m sure there are no one who dispute this, Al...  but it took you this long to get to THAT realisation?  I’m disappointed.  ;)

And since the pig flu is invading europe: tamiflu for everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From what I’ve understood it’s quite doubtful that Tamiflu would have any effect on it, but then again, I may be misinformed.

KIDDING of course!!!!!!!!!!

Aaaaaarggghhhhh!!!!  Can not rub image off retina!  It’s all coming off as George Lucas doing Chewbacca (and that’s just way to incestuous, creatively speaking).

Jodi called me out of the blue today, because she has the awesome super power of knowing exactly when I most need to talk.

Now I bet if I tried doing that, I’d manage to pick an hour when you were sleeping and then I’d be voted in as most annoying person this side of... well, wherever annoying people tend to live.

More Al:
She has such a thick Indiana accent though. It's too cute.

And no, I’m not jealous.  Dammit.  I’m not.  Not at all.  ;)

I am going to explode. This production of West Side Story I'm costuming is perhaps the most chaotic and disorganized situation I've ever been involved with in all my years of theatre. The play opens in a week, and they just finalized the set design today.

So everybody has to learn their marks in a week?  That's swell.

I watched the movie again maybe a year or two ago and was struck by how blah Tony and Maria are.  The movie belongs to Anita, Bernardo and Riff with the main rivalry between Bernardo and Riff being the most fascinating part.  Once they're killed off, the movie loses momentum.

Wow. That even blew the lens off of my mental camera. I mean sure....Al's cuddly in a "I've never been this horny before in my life and I guess no one will ever find out" kind of way, but geez........

Like it or not, it's a weak book.  Sure, Laurents' new production is a good idea (the Sharks speaking/singing in Spanish), but it doesn't cover the weak link in the trinity.  There is little indication in Tony's character that he was ever the leader of a gang -- one must rely almost completely on the actor.  (I've played  Tony -- I've also played Riff in a different production -- and found Tony to be the much more difficult role to portray.  The book gives very little to work with.)

It's a shame -- it's one of the greatest musicals, certainly Bernstein's crowning achievement -- but it reads nothing but dated nowadays.  It's almost a nostalgia piece.

It doesn't look like Richard Beymer in the film "got" that or he wasn't told.  He's more believable as a follower rather than a leader.   Russ Tamblyn though is one sexy Riff.  (It's fun seeing them both in "Twin Peaks" 30 years later where Beymer was fantastic as villainous Benjamin Horne.)

I get more smiles a day from this thread than anything I read or watch.

And I wish I talked like Foghorn Leghorn. The most awesome accent ever!

Oh great!  So I was just informed that the hospital that my workplace is connected to and that I usually exit through has today confirmed two cases of swine flu.

Looks like I will be changing my route to the train and wearing the stupid surguical mask they gave me.

I know this can be serious and I am glad we are getting all the news about precautions, etc.  But I have to wonder how many people have been coming down with some form of flu all along through the years?  And is this the same strain of flu?

I am getting sick of the fear mongering and screaming headlines, especially when we see footage of one of those Queens students playing football with his friends after he's been diagnosed or they come back and say, "Those two people we reported dying of swine flu earlier - sorry, they actually had something else."

Damn you, 24 hour news cycle.

Well I work in the Medical Field and I can tell you we are taking it pretty seriously here...Not that it's terribly dangerous to an already healthy individual.  It is most dangerous to the very young, the elderly, and to those who have a compromised resperatory system.  I personaly just don't want the flu, because then I would have to sequester myself away from my Granddaughter, and you know, because the flu sucks.
