I am uncomfortable with any sharp implements being anywhere near that area.

I'm not even gonna ask by which leap of what imagination, you got from Peter's newly shaven head to... um... er... intimate trimming, Al.

But beyond that I've only to things two say...
1)  from what I've seen in pictures of you, it'd take a heckuva lot more than a nether shaving to make you completely hairless.
2)  sometimes getting rid of all the old hair (wherever) can be nice as a way of paving way for brand new batch. After all it does grow back. Except when it's on your skull, apparently.*

* Me bitter? Nah.

My Dad had prostate cancer my freshman year of college.  It was pretty serious but he had good doctors.  He required surgery but he's still alive and kicking.  I didn't see him after the surgery I saw him about a week later (he was still recuperating at the hospital).  I walk into the room and see my Dad.  He looks up motions for me to come over.  In my minds eye its all "Michael Corleone in The Godfather, I am totally ready to say "I'm with you now Pop."  But before I utter the words, in barely a whisper, my Dad says:

"Son.  Don't let 'em ever shave your nuts.  Itches like a mother fucker when it grows back in."

In that moment, all my anxiety and fear that I'd lose my Dad was salved.  It was the perfect way to make me feel alright.  But thats who he is.  I'm real glad he's my Dad.

So the moral of the story is that a shorn scrotum me be exhilarating to behold but it itches like a mother fucker when the hair grows back in.

Nah, it's not as bad as that.  It can itch a bit... but then again so can a beard in itch early stages as well.

As an aside, or perhaps related to the operation thing, when I was in for my appendectomy the day before New Year's Eve 2007, I noticed a while afterwards (and obviously did catch on to this right away) that I was a bit well trimmed on the top side, so to speak... and at first wondered what the heck had happened, until it clocked in that they'd obviously shaved my abdomen and a wide area around the main surgical area to be on the safe side.  Was more than a wee bit perplexed before I realised that, since they'd obviously done it while I was under anaesthetics.
